Shea to ride J J The Jet Plane in Golden Jubilee
SOUTH AFRICAN sprint star J J the Jet Plane will be reunited with jockey Kevin Shea in the Golden Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot, for which he is abest-priced 5-1 favourite.
Ryan Moore, who partnered the blistering four-year-old to victory at Windsor on Monday, is likely to be claimed to ride for Sir Michael Stoute, while gossip in South Africa had suggested that top domestic rider Piere Strydom might be offered the ride.
Strydom rode J J The Jet Plane to a pair of Grade 1 victories at home last term but Charl Pretorius, spokesman for trainer Mike de Kock, told South African reporters that Shea would take the mount.
Shea, who rode J J The Jet Plane in Dubai, is De Kock's usual overseas rider.
Former trainer Lucky Houdalakis, the sprinter's part-owner, told Business Age that he will be flying to Britain expecting a big run.
"Although we didn't get a good look at him going to post at Windsor, he certainly turned in another top performance and we go to Ascot full of confidence," he said.
"I am pleased Mike has chosen a six furlong race as I consider five furlongs too sharp for him nowadays."

I was hoping Ryan Moore would retain the mount, all his experience at RA might be the difference. Oh well good luck to Shea.

Ascot a straight forward course, and Shea is probably more experienced rider than ryan moore, especially when it comes to riding JJ?

In the UK I Moore surely more experienced, conditions totally different to SA, I'm not doubting Shea, he is a world class rider, but hey I suppose MDK knows what he's doing.
