Similar thing happened today in the uk on turf, thunder storms and torrential rain enough to change the going from good to firm to soft, they just waited 40 mins and re started the meeting

We were devasted - Another Schlepp had a fair chance of earning stakes from a good draw and then we find that we had no racing - so difficult to find races and pay keep and then you don't get to race after 10mm - I have full faith in the Jocks and trainers who thought the conditions were unsafe- what i cannot understand is if the conditions were as bad as they were then why bother to risk horse and rider by running three races? Also for those that did take bets it took ages to declare PA and P6 divs and the folk in the tote I was in were fuming about that

Didn't we have a U be the Judge show a while back where the state of the sand course was debated? If I remember correctly the track manager was on the show and maintained that 'there was nothing wrong with the sand' - and now it can't take 10 mm of rain - wonder what would have happened if it was a turf meeting?
Yesterday proved that the sand track is definitely in a poor state and apparently there is no money to fix it right now - but there is money to send people to Epsom. I know marketing is important, but the priorities seem wrong.
And dare I raise the night racing issue? Why has everything gone so quiet on that front?

Not sure if guys are aware that the trainers at the Vaal have a "club" now which will be fighting on behalf of owners and trainers for better conditions there - this will obviously be a priority and I wish the guys well if they can help the lot of owners then I support them 100%

Lol Oscar. Did the tote take their full take out on the exotic bets or did they pro rata this. Looked like either sand was removed from the middle or was swept to the extremities as the worst was in the middle of the track.
