As if any further evidence about the worth of pure American speed, the win in the Windsor Castle on opening day of Ascot cemented the notion.
This horse was a claiming horse in the United States!

I seem to recall a couple of stories of claimers that have become champions Barry? In fact I know of one with a Bahrain trainer that bought a claimer in the US for $5000 and it landed up winning in Dubai and qualifying for World Cup night a couple of years ago...didn't win tho'
Now if I could just find those dammn $'s that I hid, then we could go shopping around claiming races...U in Barry?

Var was a claiming horse in America with top trainer Bill Mott. When he went to England he became a Grade 1 winner!
Ameircans own the sprint on World Cup night in Dubai.

Remember they're all bred to Northern hemisphere time, the winner had a couple of months on the field, which is crucial for a 2 year old...
