Royal Extravagance in Race 4 PE

We knew that Royal Extravagance was not going to run a place...
How do I come to that conclusion?
Both trainers Smith and Strydom added additional horses in that Specific leg of the Place accumulator.
Why did they not banker Royal Extravagance in the Place accumulator?
Because they knew that Royal Extravagance could not run a place?
This is where the debate starts..
They will justify their actions, and I will stand by my opinion..
So who will win?
I cannot win, but they are losing..
Losing new patrons...
Most, if not all owners are or become punters, punters to a degree.
Some will not punt with a bookmaker, some will not punt with the tote, some will not punt at all.
Where do most owners get money from to buy horses, either from stakes generated by current horses winning, punting.
Very few owners keep pumping money, made in another industry, into the racing industry.
Perhaps...just perhaps...if these trainers realises that they need patrons... and tell the public what goes for what...

Andre to be fair you did not have to have info to realise the filly was under pressure to place - she had three hard races in Natal and being a daughter of Kitalpha may be slightly jointy(I cannot confirm this but knowing the breed they do have a tendancy to be unsound) - Also she is a three-year-old and had to face elders giving weight - I'm not aware of your relationship with the trainers but as always I say listen to no one but the form book and your gut! If most owners get money from stakes of current horses winning or punting then I would be suprised indeed - many of my friends use business money to buy horses as we all know how unreliable punting can be - Having spoken to over 100 jockey's and trainers in the last three months the overwelming advice to new owners is get involved for fun not to make money or you will begin to hate the game - just my 2 cents worth

Would it not be better if the trainer said on TV....bla...blaa..then everyone knows..
or is it only some bookmakers that must know...

Difficult one Andre - if the horse was no good because of injury then the course vet should have picked it up - fitness could not have been an issue especially over the sprint as she had run very recently - Remember also punters have placed exotics well in advance and most are not watching teletrack to get info as they are earning a living working - Do you know why the stable thought she would battle to win?(My reasons for covering her are documented above and i selected the winner as my best place bet on the day because of this but purely on exposed form RE was the top choice unless you had watched her last three starts in Natal and thought that she had too much to do considering the amount of effort she had put in and the distance she travelled back to PE)

I do spend as much as R40K some days punting on the tote, all race meetings.
P6 for R5K,
PA for R4k,
Jackpot R6 for R2k,
quartets 6 horses boxed R360,
multiple 1,2 x 1,2 x f x f for R400,
multiple 1,2 x 1,2 x 3,4 x 3,4 for R200
trifecta boxed 1,2,3 for R240
on the specific day, I saw that paul witmoer was riding in the specific race.
we knew of pro power at 20/1 the previous time he went down.
hence we figured, paul witmoer is up to it again.
I spoke to him in the morning, he told me the best one was scratched in race 1.
I also get the gavin smith PA, strydom PA and P6.
not that I spend money on their selections, as they are 99% of the time out with 1 leg.
I caught the PA and P6, so I am not the one complaining.
Many a PA has paid well, because a trainer has opted to run the odds/on fav, knowing well, that the horse will not run a place.
The point is not the specific horse or trainer, but giving a horse to a trainer that is not open about the chances of a specific horse that has been priced up as fav....not bothered with 100/1 chances...
how will I know when to believe him wrt my own horse?
