I have been harping on "management" for ages and getting flak from many people(whose opinions are status or pocket related) .......I will repeat again that racing is stuffed but won't totally fail as it will be saved by getting rid of the present boards and mis-management teams. The interesting thing will be to see how close it gets to the cliff face before the necessary action is taken!
It is sad that we can produce world class horses ,trainers and jockeys, but the associated areas such as Phumulela,NHA, betting(totes and bookmakers)publications(lots of errors in most)etc etc need to up their game to help save the industry for their own survival!

Very intresting comments from Louis about Kimberley racing. Those who saw fit to close Bloemfontein for this shit cannot be called racing people. The are just greedy pigs. Disgraceful

Read PART 2 on freeracer.
sure that the rest of the Vaal trainers have simular stories to tell...
..not of the past, but of the present...
..especially the group that gathers on non vaal race days at the tote/bar on the Vaal....
they should put a book together...would be a best seller..
...fame and fortune would await them...
...for one, I like your coup's...
Like Goosens says....wait...wait...the punts will jump at you...
...thanks for Pro Power at 20/1..
...thanks for Bertie/Witmoer at 33/1...20/1...
...keep it up boys...
...remember the lenox...not more than 2 bottles...
...remember..don't punt the sprinters...at 4/10...2 X grandpa's in a glass of water...

I have read the full story and have to compliment Louis on his efforts; I agree in principle with a lot of the points he makes.
To touch on one or two; I too can not understand how R40 million can be set aside for lights / night racing in little Nigeria when there is no money for getting the Vaal sand track fixed; the Kimberley situation is a disgrace; and I can't understand why it seems impossible to get the programming of races more in line with the horse population.
I also read Oscar's questions following on from the article and would like to expand on the one question relating to the RA's role in horseracing. This is precisely what I asked myself last year when the subs became due, and until such time somebody can give me a satisfactory answer; I will remain a non-member.

In terms of the MOU during corporatisation of the horseracing industry, there was a convincing assurance given that the industry will be transformed to reflect the demographics of our country. To this end, at least 20% of the shareholders of Phumelela were to be blacks, membership of the RA over 30%, etc.
Herein, there was to be skills transfer to promote blacks into positions of decision-making. To date, we see the same whites from a clique that contiunues to advance itself without passing on skills to blacks or even anyone else. The same conneceted people sit on Phumelela, Racing Association, Racing Trust, National Horseracing Authority, etc; majority being known elitist, arrogant whites!
After 15 years of our democracy, where are blacks as owners, trainers, officials, service providers, etc? Who still gets all the procurement orders?
For that matter, where is a black who could even be interviewed for the position that was advertised (General Manager-RA)? Guaranteed it will be filled by one of the 'favoured' white sons, if he has already not been identified!
The horseracing industry sucks; the sooner Government intervenes the better because not only has it reneged on the MOU, but it also remains a closed, dictatorial shop for the majority of our people (black and white).

Its extremely worrying that no official response to Louis article has yet been made by the very association that is in place to look after his issues..and that he pays towards every year!
