ARCHIPENKO will miss Saturday's Coral-Eclipe at Sandown due to a swollen fetlock.
The Mike de Kock-trained five-year-old won the Group 2 Summer Mile at Ascot last July before being beaten only three quarters of a length by Spirit One in the Arlington Million and gained his latest victory in a Group 3 event at Nad Al Sheba in February.
Archipenko,generally a 14-1 shot for Saturday's Group 1 event, had been pleasing connections in his build to the race and his setback is a blow to connections.
Kevin Shea said: "It is disappointing and is a wicked blow. I was looking forward to riding him and missed a big week in South Africa, the July Cup meeting, to stay here and ride him.
"He has a swollen fetlock, it is an early prognosis and we don't know when he will be back."
