The advertising for the event has been incredible. They have had almost 2 ads per advertising break on East Coast Radio for the most part of the last week or two.

The day actually sells itself after 100 years.
Sadly nothing will be done to attract the same 50 000 people back to the track for the bread and butter meetings that count.
The poser is getting even 5% of the newcomers to return regularly - instead they will be made to stand in long queues with tellers that don't know the diff between a trifecta and a scratching - and eat shocking food out of dodgy stalls.
Racing enforces its image as an elitist sport with the same old crowd eating the caviar and drinking the champagne on the third floor.
That's why I am staying at home with a chop on the weber and a bottle of something

Just got back from my local tote...chaos........no betmark cards......no help/assistance for the queues......just plastic furniture, litter,and smoke.

Good point Dave - my credit card is overlimit so had to take the hard cash down to the dump! Then did my boots- so not a happy man of calibre right now.
