KNOW YOUR RIGHTS brings to you something which Phumelela and the Racing Association have kept very quiet.

After reading this information letter, you should ask yourself whether the organisations who are supposed to be custodians of horseracing in Gauteng are misleading you and keeping you in the dark. If you think they are, then what else has not been disclosed to you?

THE TRUTH IS THAT:-

1.
A complaint was lodged with the Gauteng Provincial Government that Phumelela was undertaking construction activities for night racing when the environmental authorisation it received to do so had expired on the 27th February 2009.
2.
After an investigation on site by the Gauteng Provincial Government it was found that the environmental authorisation had expired but that the construction activities had not yet commenced.
3.
Phumelela was issued with a warning that any construction activity undertaken at Turffontein without the required authorisation would prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
4.
Prior to the 29th of June 2009, Phumelela was aware of the above facts and failed to disclose them to its business partners, the stock exchange and its shareholders.
5.
Should Phumelela carry on any construction activity at Turffontein in breach of the warning given to it, Phumelela will be prosecuted.
6.
Without a valid and proper authorisation from the Gauteng Provincial Government night racing cannot proceed at Turffontein.
7.
You as an owner who has been promised night racing at Turffontein have been left in the lurch.

WHAT ARE YOUR RIGHTS AS AN OWNER? They are:-

You can complain as much as you want, as it will not get you anywhere.
You can blame who you want, as it will fall on deaf ears.
You can ask for answers, but will not get the truth.
You can sit back and do nothing, something that you do most of the time.
You can ask yourself whether you are happy with the custodians of horseracing.
Your rights remain intact, it is what your chosen representatives do with your rights.

gajima it seems that you have shitstirrers on your mailing list. why such a song and dance about this all the time. let the powers that be do there jobs and we do ours. to many people have too much time on there hands it seems.

who gives a shit about night racing anyway. racing is in the best position it has been in for 25 years. greg blank say this at the RA agm last year and he receive a standing ovation. the 1.35% who think different should race chariots at greyville and stop crying

Mike I do not know who is sending these to me or how they got my e-mail address. It is freely available at NHRA and RA. I am only the messenger here and posted as it of general interest to the forum.

However, it does raise some interesting points re communication or rather lack of it to the industry. Rather tell it like it is than allow rumours to develop.
