Newbury - Daylight robbery
15 years 10 months ago
I am furious as to what went down this afternoon in the first leg of the jackpot at Newbury. Cecil Mthembo on our illustrious @#$%$ Telly Track advised the viewers that the 20 had been scratched. He advised and I quote "banker 20 as the favourite is 2 and you will get the remaining runners" which were 21 to 25.
I then promptly restructured my bet thus removing the favourite and replacing it with the 20. Later while checking the results I noticed that all the scratchings had gone through except for the 20. Later a sheepish Cecil apologised for his mistake. Apparently, which I was totally unaware of, if the 20 is scratched and there are additional runners the 20 is then considerd a runner.
I had the jackpot 1.6 times for and outlay of R260.00. Am I going mad but how on earth if a horse is scratched, how is it it possible that it is considerd a runner. In my books if a horse is scratched it is scratched and did not run.
And the powers that be want to attract more punters to the racing game. Ha Ha, with these hidden rules to suite them, they certainly will not attract $%$#.
Keep it up Gold Circled and Phumelela, and eventually you will have no one left to fill your pockets as you would have sucked every one dry in this game, you thieves.

i am with you on this one Rattex,
A friggin disgrace:
1) They can't adjust their system to cater for more than 20 horses and yet t5hey want our bucks at any cost. Bullshit I say - the gambling board should close the mothers down
2) Then they make kak rules which fly in the face of their existing tote rules - I wonder what they have done to educate the punters? How many ABC guys knew about this rule? Bet you only 5% tops of us diehards knew it!!
3) Then they can't even educate their staff properly - Cecil made a bona fide error cause he didn't know - I doubt if anybody knew off-hand.
4) I phoned Gold Circle dissemination and the chick ashamedly said ' we have had lotsa calls - punters are not happy!!!!!!!!!"
Where is the PR / Marketing machine now? - nowhere to be found because the majority of the GC/phumelela set up are non-punters and are Monday to FRiday 9 to 5 ers.
F-ing discgrace !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Margaret can you defend the bullshit???????????????/

Actually it makes sense that if all horses numbered 20 and up count as a single entity then ALL of them would have to be scratched for any of them to be non-runners. BUT it would have been helpful to know this before the race instead of leaving us to work it out the hard way, by ourselves!

"90" runners scratched yesterday
Bookmakers hit by glut of non-runners
BOOKMAKERS on Saturday said that racing should be thankful that the glut of non runners that hit Britain's Flat cards did so on such a"quiet" Saturday as firms reported downturns in turnover that could have been "much worse".
Coral estimated the absentees on their "busiest" day of the week put turnover down around 10 per cent, but stressed that with only the valuable sales race, the Weatherbys Super Sprint, as a highlight, it was not a disaster.
"We should count our lucky stars that it happened on such a quiet Saturday and not on King George day next week," said spokesman Simon Clare. "That really would have been a disaster."
In excess of 90 horses were withdrawn, most of them due to the sudden deluge which hit the country on Thursday and Friday leaving tracks with going dramatically eased from declaration time.

Rattex - please send your contact details to margsvs@gmail.com so that I can call you to discuss.
Also still double checking some details on the rules (I wasn't at work today unfortunately so didn't finalise).

That disclaimer would have collapsed into a million fragments a long time ago if it was tested every time Tellytripe get something wrong. Having said that, I would have made the same assumption as Cecil in this instance, it's only with the useless benefit of hindsight that I have worked out what I THINK the case is with horses numbered 20 and above.
I stress, though, that I have not checked the actual rule. By the looks of it, nor had anyone else before it was too late.

The more I watch Tellytrack the more bored Im getting with that continuous drone of the presenters pushing tote turnover particularly UK Jackpots
Why cant they get some new presenters?..or at least some guests who know what they talking about
