Two 'dead' racehorses rescued by RSPCA

TWO thoroughbreds recorded as dead on the Weatherbys database have turned up among six emaciated horses rescued by the RSPCA from property in Yorkshire.

The two sons of Saddler's Hall are now recovering at a veterinary hospital near Hull while investigations continue into a possible cruelty prosecution, although the motivation for registering the pair as deceased, and who was responsible, looks set to remain a mystery.

Sauvage, a nine-year-old out of Gallic Honey, and County Hall, foaled by Awbeg Beauty in 2002, were identified from microchips.

Neither gelding raced, and so far there is only an entry on the Irish point-to-point website for the later to suggest they were ever in training, but Weatherbys was notified of their deaths at least 18 months ago.
