GEE WIZZ MIKE... R34 000 - THAT'S PLENTY...

In Natal i pay R3900 per horse - 10% discount if i have more than three in stable - i have 5 in training 100% - account R15 600 minus 10% =R14 040.My vet bill about R1 000 per month. MY fees in PE more R4200 - 2 in training there - but my 7 comes to R22 000. R10 000 less yours...you should surely get feedback three times a day at the rate you pay...lol

Some may say the better the trainer the better the chances but any trainer can train a good horse if he's a horseman.

the horse i have in full training average over 6000 per month and the others in work but not fully training just about 5000. the vet bill is high as it include a loss of he crown jewels for one of my horses

No not at all, sounds like i would like him to train my horses. If he communicates this way then its a good thing. The "only" setback is that its KZN racing but i am obroad so it really makes no odds anyway.

And if he offers this 10% deal then thats even more incentive.

We will see how our horses run over the next 2 months then decide

YEP Mike...that's a lotta money...and the crown jewels thing - costing. I bought Muhtafal filly at ready to run and she got lamimitis soon after. Treatment and putting her down in one month R14 000! eina!!!!

As interest isn't there any medical for horses around?

Easy...the feedback and 10% is worth it...Have one runner there - 4 runs unplaced. Trainer said one more then time for PE if he doesn't place... i like that. Small string, gets places and decent wins...

yes that is a BIG problem in SA with the trainers. If ONLY they realised that by telling us "this horses is kak" they would not lose a horse but gain another. But they dont think like that which is mind boggling. If my trainer told me "this horse of your is shit" i would get rid of it and repace it the same day for him.

you are 1000000% correct, trainers should NOT tell their owners when horses are kak. They should just keep training them in the hope thet devine inspiration takes over.

Please please forgive my oversight and apologies to any trainer i offended. I would rather be told over many years there was a chance and that its "issues" that have stopped my horse from performing but those issues are in hand.

roger. to be fair sloop is making a good point. let me show you why i think so.

you buy a horse for 60k. it goes to the farm for a few months and then comes into the yard. lets say it cost 4k per month to train. after 6 months the horse will owe you at least 30k in training, vets fees and other goeters. so the horse cost you 90k. the trainer has been training for 6 months, he has his money. he will also now that the horse can or cannot run by then.

lets say the horse cant run. the trainer has two options. be honest. or be decetefull. if he is honest, the horse will move to another trainer at the worst case scenario. if the horse is "kak" the other trainer dont do anything and trainer no.1 has been proved right. I would hope the owners do trust there trainer and thank him, offload and buy another to carry on with there dreams.

the second option is to be deceteful. the trainer does this so that he can pocket the training fees on the horse for as long as he can. feed the horse leavings, give it to a groom that do four horses, lower costs but he charge full training fee. when the owner start asking he tell him " needs a bit more time", "is very immature, dont know what he is doing", "will be a nice (sorry oscar!) 3 year old", "is coming along nicely", " we waiting for the rains", " we have had too much rain, we waiting for the grownd to firm up", "lets see what he does in the weaker winter season". etc, etc. this can easy go on for months. if you go watch your horse work the trainer always put him against a "kakker" horse, or instruct the grooms to ride so the result look good. you leave the track dreaming of the top division!

the reality strike home later when you have enough paying for a horse that dont run. the trainer eventually have to run him to shut you up and then you see the truth for yourself. you have spent at this time much more than the horse did cost you! you then are disilussened and leave the trainer and maybe the game.

sloop are right, better the trainer say, this is not a good horse. he do you a favour and himself in the longer run.
