Sea The Stars may race on as a four-year-old - if the weather scuppers his relentless surge towards invincibility.

John Oxx's magnificent colt is due to line up in the Juddmonte International at York on August 18, after which the Irish Champion Stakes (September 5) and the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (October 4) will come under consideration.

Although his entry in next month's Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot is precautionary, Oxx could campaign Sea The Stars for another year if the remainder of this term is a washout.

The son of Cape Cross needs good ground to be at his best, and was a late withdrawal from the Irish Derby due to the rain-softened going.

Oxx told the Daily Mail: "If we had bad weather, and he couldn't run and fulfil his potential this year, then it may change things.

"It would be odds-against that he'd stay on but, if things conspired to stop him from running, you'd be left scratching your head and wondering whether we should keep him going."

Oxx also played down speculation that a deal has already been struck to sell the Epsom Derby and 2000 Guineas hero, who is owned by Christopher Tsui and his mother, Ling.

"They are not interested in talking to anyone at the moment," added the County Kildare handler.

"No one knows what plans they have in their mind but I expect they are just enjoying the horse and racing and have made no decision yet."
