Single £2 punter nets £350,000 in Scoop6
MARKAB'S last-gasp victory in the William Hill Great St Wilfrid Handicap at Ripon meant there was a single winner of Saturday's Tote Scoop6, who picked up £351,263.49 having staked just £2.
A total of £302,328 was bet into Saturday's pool and there were only four tickets going into the final leg, with the minimum-stake punter, who had placed the bet in a Coral betting shop, the only one to have selected the market leader.
The winner now goes forward to next weekend, where they could add another £150,541 to their winnings should they be successful in the bonus race.
Totepool spokesman George Primarolo said: "There was plenty of money for Markab in the Great St Wilfrid and this wasn't lost on our Scoop6 winner, who now gets a chance to take their winnings to over half a million if successful in the bonus race next weekend."
There were 149 winners of Saturday's place fund, each of whom picked up £405.80.
