J J ,Sea the Stars,Rachel and King`s Gambit....

Just to HIGHLIGHT some of the bigger events going on over the weekend.

The main event (well for us) is J J the Jet Plane`s first departure for UK trainer Richard Hannon on Saturday In the Haydock Sprint Cup.

Richard hannon has this to say about J J

:"JJ worked exceptionally well on Tuesday morning and he seems in really good form. His July Cup run puts him right there, and, though his best form has been on decent ground, the straight course at Haydock is supposedly not nearly as soft as the rest of the track, so, hopefully, conditions won't be too bad."

Got a feeling the promised faster ground on the sprint track will be a false dawn though so caution advised if you are thinking of punting anything in the race.. GO GO J J!

What should have been the main event(and might still be)Would have been Sea the Stars and Irish Derby winner Fame and Glory meeting in the Irish Champion Stakes a race with a R6m first place purse.

Unfortunately Sea the Stars trainerJohn Oxx says he won`t run if the going comes up too soft for the "Equine superstar".

Some good news from the track this morning is that the going has improved to yeilding to soft, from soft.
But with meetings being called off all week in Ireland im not to hopeful of him making the start :(. What would be the harm in running him on the soft for christ sake? if he is to go down as one of the best of all time he has to win facing adversity?

Let him run and blame the going if he gets turned over!!!

Staying in Ireland Last years top rated 2yo filly Rainbow View is Favourite for the Matron Stakes and lets give her one last chance to regain winning ways?

Super Star Rachel Alexandra
continues on her march towards greatness on saturday evening when she runs in the Woodward stakes a $750k gr1 , she takes on 8 rivals including the once MDK trained Asiatic Boy
now trained by Kieran Mclaughlin and is 1/2
jolly to make history and be the first female winner of the Woodward..

Another great weekend of international racing to look forward too!!!

ps look out for a possible meeting between Team Valor`s Gitano Hernando
and King`s Gambit
on wednesday at Doncaster

Connections of Rachel Alexandra are out to prove the filly is "one for the record books" by running her in the Woodward on Saturday.

Barbara Banke, wife of majority owner Jess Jackson, said: "We want to prove she's a great horse, one for the history books. We pointed her to this race to tackle history."

Jackson concurred, saying: "We try to give her hurdles. Each time she passes one, we're delighted. It's a process of defining greatness. If she goes up against older male horses, we'll be better able to get a measure of her greatness.more

"Having walked the course at Leopardstown this evening, trainer John Oxx declared that he was happy with the condition of the track and that Sea the Stars is a "likely runner" in the Tattersalls Millions Irish Champion Stakes on Saturday unless there is unexpected rainfall which might change the ground conditions."

HRI also report a dry overnight forecast for the Dublin area with only light drizzle in the morning before a dry and breezy day with sunny spells.

Ballydoyle aim to lower Sea The Stars colours

FAME AND GLORY returns to action in the Tattersalls Millions Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown on Saturday, aiming to become the first horse to defeat Sea The Stars this season.

The hugely-impressive Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby winner, who will be accompanied by four stablemates, including four-time Group 1 winner Mastercraftsman, has not run since that Curragh stroll but trainer Aidan O'Brien allayed any fears Fame And Glory might lack full fitness.

"He is ready to start back and has done plenty," O'Brien said on Friday.

"He has shown himself adaptable in terms of ground and as he has always shown plenty of class and speed. We don't see dropping to a mile and a quarter being a problem. We're happy with him."

Sea The Stars has fended off the best of Ballydoyle's opposition this term, including a victory over Fame And Glory in the Investec Derby, but his stiffest test could come in Saturday's race with O'Brien-trained pacemakers Set Sail and Rockhampton likely to set a stern stamina test in conditions that will provide a serious examination of the John Oxx-trained colt's ability.

O`Brien and Murtagh are adamant that they would have beaten Sea the Stars at Epsom with different tactics.

Leopardstown has a short straight and the pacemakers will be kicking for home along way out could really suit Fame and Glory.

Well Hibby if you are moving your board today higher than evens, give old scotia a shout.
Fancy Sea the Stars should go to the front and dictate his own pace.
