Sea The Stars confirms class in Irish Champion
SEA THE STARS confirmed his superiority over the best of Ballydoyle with an imperious display in the Tattersalls Millions Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown on Saturday.
The brilliant John Oxx-trained Derby winner was recording his fifth consecutive Group 1 win and did so in effortless fashion, despite the best attempts of Aidan O'Brien's pacemakers, whose mission to create a stern stamina test to suit stablemate Fame And Glory (9-4) was carried out in ruthless fashion.
However, that blistering early pace - set by Rockhampton and Set Sail, with four-time Group 1 winner Mastercraftsman cruising in third - caused few problems for Sea The Stars (4-6), who was anchored in midfield by Mick Kinane, who was enjoying his seventh success in the race.
Entering the turn for home, Johnny Murtagh, who had opted to partner Rip Van Winkle in the Investec Derby instead of runner-up Fame And Glory, eased the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby winner alongside and then past Sea The Stars, attempting to suppress the son of Galileo's speed. The tactic had no effect and Kinane and Sea The Stars had soon regained their advantage, going on to score with something in hand.
Sea The Stars's next target could be the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe on October 4 and Victor Chandler cut him to 7-4 favourite (from 4-1) for that contest.

three days ago you could have go 5/1 on the horse because it was very very doubtful that it would run due to the expected going

Good morning Hibby and once again what a treat for a Sunday morning.
Looking at both races the commentaries were brilliant.
They filly was whipped 20 times in the last couple of furlongs and Sea the Stars was something else.
Not sure of the strenght of the oppostion but Asiatic Boy a well beaten 4th and no doubt how good Mastercraftsman and Fame and Glory are.
For my best performance of the week, it would have to be SEA THE STARS.
