Bankable and Mourilyan to join Herman Brown

BANKABLE and Mourilyan, who have both won Listed races for Gary Moore in Britain in the last month, are to join South African trainer Herman Brown for an Australian campaign.

Both horses are owned by Chechen president Ramzan Kadyrov. Goodwood Cup runner-upMourilyan, who won the March Stakes last time out, will be targeted at the Melbourne Cup by Brown, who trained the five-year-old in Dubai earlier this year.

Sandown winner Bankable, trained by Mike de Kock in Dubai after leaving Luca Cumani, will be aimed at the Mackinnon Stakes at Flemington on October 31, the Saturday before the Melbourne Cup.

Brown, based near Durban, runs an international campaign but is best known for his exploits in Dubai.

He said: "The two go into quarantine in England next Thursday for a fortnight before flying to Melbourne where Mourilyan has 54 kilos and is guaranteed a run.

"I want Ryan Moore to ride them but he is not quite sure whether he will be free. If he isn't then Glen Schofield will ride."

Brown has some notable big-race wins to his credit headed by Jay Peg in last year's Dubai Duty Free and Singapore Cup.

Hopefully he has a better overseas campaign than local.

agree Greg he's had a poor year in KZN, were signs this week the stable is coming to hand with 2 winners but no runners at all in next 2 KZN meets? Worth keeping an eye out for when he does have a few more runners.

Southpaw I don't want to knock the guy, but what is it, bad luck, virus in the stable, average trainer, I don't know...just seems with all the ''well bred stock'' he has, the stable under achieves.

Take a guy like Duncan Howells, achieves more with lesser horses?

me neither greg, don't know enough to knock him and he's obviously still highly rated to be attracting good horses like those mentioned above, but it is odd how he seems to be more successful away from home these days? maybe Leon S knows the score with the stable?
