But lets look at this from a serious angle.These guys claim to be sprotsmen and they are professional. 2 months hardly makes a dent in his wallet or acts as a detterent. The "belief" of being above the law/game is clear for all to see, its not a funny thing this its a sad thing. This guys rides for Alec who's surname is steeped in South African racing's DNA. This is not just a guy that took an e or 2, this is a guy that knew he could get tested and still took the E Now if this was taken so he can sweat a bit more and make the weight then that issue once agin needs to be looked at (min weights etc) but the bottom line is Fallon got much longer. Also if this was a footballer one can only imagine the outcry...

PS: Honestly i dont't care what they're on as long as they try...especially "E", at least they can lose weight and see the winning line from a different angle at the same time...

This is where the industry falls flat and demonstrates it is only about one thing MONEY. The sentence for drug/alcohol use/abuse should not be two months/one suspended. The sentence should be coupled to a drug/alcohol rehab programme as is the case in many of our courts now if you are caught driving under the influence. Mr Geroudis may just have used E for recreational purposes but a three month course at his own expense (at the Jockey club expense for grooms or apprentice riders) should be mandatory and be the condition that decides if he retains his licence or not. We have lost too many riders in the past that have abused substances and either committed suicide or lost the plot and have never recovered. We cannot regard Jockeys and Grooms as mere instruments in the racing wheel. If you caught your child/spouse taking drugs I would hope you would force them to attend a programme to prevent further abuse - why do we as an industry not do something proactive or do we want to have a whole cycle of Andrew Fortune like stories to warm our hearts? The pressure involed with racing can drive anyone to drink and drugs so best we start to help rather than punish and hope that will make the problem disapear.
