Interbet's raceday preview

The early bird gets the worm (Clairwood home straight
yesterday)
Action at Clairwood today and off to good start with the track
conditions and weather in the zone for a change. I went out yesterday to
take a look at the course and was quickly reminded just how effective
the drainage system at Clairwood Park really is. There's been rain all
week yet barely any sign of it on the track itself whereas the rest of
the property is mudfest. If you're planning a trip out there use the
Merebank entrance, conditions on the other end are downright dangerous
from roadworks.

The Clairwood Park Panoramique restaurant - well worth a visit
for an afternoon's racing.

It's a tough card today but there is one bet that looks worth taking and
that comes up early on in the 2nd race. Paul Lafferty's No.1 Kokorot Sop
returns after a short break and now without his knackers. These days the
chopping only puts them out of work for around a week so don't read too
much into the 'rest'. According to Laff the gelding has lightened him up
and he's improved by lengths since. He's expected to go on and win a few
races so should have no problem dispensing with this typical out season
maiden field. I was last on the track filming Kokorot Sop a week or two
back when he was carded to run at the cancelled Greyville meeting and he
was being put through hard work daily at that stage. There's been a few
lost days since then with rain putting on the brakes at Summerveld but
he should still be fit enough to get the job done. As for the
opposition, a few 3 year olds in line to improve and then consistent
form amongst two or three of the older campaigners but nothing serious
it would appear.Kokorot Sop is priced up at a drifting 1/1 from 8/10 and there's
currently a 14/10 stretch on Interbet - excellent value! I wouldn't
count on it lasting though considering how the money came for him last
time out when he got beaten into 2nd. Stable info is he's improved
considerably so expect a flood of support again today and perhaps a good
idea to get on early if short priced favourites are your fancy.
