The troubles that have beset the Nedbank Matha Series continued in what has now turned out to be the penultimate race in the recently cancelled contract between the banking giant and Athletics South Africa, the Polokwane half-marathon on Sunday.
In form Zimbabwean Wirimai Juwawo looked set to win the race when a marshalling error sent him off track in the closing stages and he ended up trailing home behind Nedbank teammate Tshamano Setone.
After some debate among the referees it was decided to award them both the same time of 1:04:19 and an equal cheque for R20 000, a costly mistake for the organisers.
