Jet Master, who has been South Africa’s champion sire for the past three seasons, began covering this year on September 1 and has an illustrious band of mares on his book. Jet Master’s fee is R170 000 for a guaranteed live foal, down on his highest fee, probably due to the recent economic downturn.
He is very fertile and a Klipdrif Stud spokesman said that he enjoys every one of his coverings, making him a relatively easy stallion to manage. He is set to cover between 100 and 110 mares this season.
The maximum he covers on a day is three, but he will never do that number two days in succession and is often given a break.
The weather is also a factor in determining how many coverings he does in a day. He will not be asked to do too much on very hot days.
One of his most important mares this season is the daughter of Northern Guest, Majestic Guest. She is the dam of one of his most successful progeny, J J The Jet Plane, who has won three Grade 1 sprints to date and has been Group 1 placed in the UK.Majestic Guest is owned by Jet Master’s owners, Pat and Henry Devine.J J The Jet Plane already has a three-year-old and a two-year-old full-brother, but both are unraced to date.continue reading
