TRAINERS / OWNERS - start a TRADING ROOM

Trainers will have to start thinking about organic growth.
Expanding the service the stable offers.

Much like filling stations did.
They incorporated the corner cafe, bakery, green grocer, butcher, and car wash.
Had they not done that, most filling stations would have gone banckrupt.

Sure the trainers, help with buying horses, booking tables on race day, transportation to and from the airport, accomodation and the parties.
But that does not change the ROI of the owner.
It's more of a PR exersize to keep the trainer/owner relations above the line.

All the other sport teams and individuals do it.
Some do it underhand, others do it in the open.

Well, it makes sense to start a trading room at the trainers yard.
all that is needed is :

1. Desktop
2. Clerk familiar with email and Interbet
3. Interbet accounts for each owner in the yard.
...each owner can still have his/her own private Interbet account
4. R10,000 deposited by each owner into his stable/Interbet account
5. Email address
6. Selection model/process
7. Financial model/process
8. process model/process

6. selection model
only horses from the stable are selected, that can win > 15/10 or place >15/10

7. finacial model
only 10% of each owners pool will be traded, with a email confirmation between the clerk and owner

8. process model/process
process is done over a 12 month period
50 weeks
1 trade per week on avarage
aim to have at least 3 win or place trades and make provision for 1 loss in 4 trades.

at average 2/1...each owners pool would be >R1.5m after the 12 month window
at average 15/10.each owners pool would be >R350k after the 12 month window

what's in it for the trainer...
10% of each owners pool

what's in it for the owner...
next year, the horses training fees will be paid from the pool..

ps..Tarry's owners should each be up >R5m after the good run the last few months at clairwood..

Jesus H. Christ on a pogo stick, this is all we'd need.

Trainers that do not concentrate on the job at hand are the bane of an owner's existence.

We need more focus on the horses, not less.

So then we will turn the punting stables into MEGA puting stables.....

They cheat, steal and canive more than the woman on Desperate Housewives.....Now you want to give them free lisence?

I think that clerk should be employed with a laptop and a CAMERA.....This man should be out taking pictures of owners horses talking to each owner in the yard on a bi weekly basis. He should be the PR face of the organisation. Each owner I'm sure will invest R10k a year to have him be informed of EVERYTHING that happens to his horse. (Including when the poor thing has to go to the vet...Clerk should be there holding the hoof and petting him on the neck.)

Money well spent!!!!

But now I am lost for words..
always thought the owners want ROI..
always thought the trainers want owners that pay EVERY MONTH..

Barry,

Trainers.....excludes barend botes...see he is on the horse himself..
boxing - trainer in the ring
wrestling - trainer on the mat
judo - trainer on the mat
rugby - trainer on the field (the teams that do well)
dancing - trainer on the floor
gym - trainer all over the pretty girls/wife..

horse racing
groom on the R1,000,000 horse...but not in the R500,000 merc
jockey working the horse if it runs saturday...
jockey scheming what to tip on his R20m per annum sms tipping service.
+7400 sms x R30 per racemeeting x 2 per week x 50 weeks..thats why he is still riding..

trainer at the stables doing PR..
and aswering the phone..the bank is calling..OD must be reduced..

NO TRAINER..and I MEAN NO TRAINER can tell you what each of his 150 horse did this morning...

hence we dont call them trainers...but facilitators...???

They not involved with the training in any case..
when they do get involved, they put the wrong needle to the wrong horse...
best they stay with the PR...
and by the way..they are very good at it...go to the VAAL, Turfontein or Ranjesfontein..pleasant chaps..that's if you drive a Rolls Royce and have a few $$$...

Well my trainer is still a trainer, at the track with the horses, both strings, come rain or shine; luckily for me he does not have 150 horses to look after...

1. I think the trainer need to upgrade his thinking of himself.
2. I think that the owners must be realistic when speaking to the trainer.

Trainers are CEO's of their respective companies.
Surely their function is to run a profitable company.
There are +50 grooms in his stable, that got employed for their skills.
A Vet and Farrier are contracted in to render a service on a as and when basis.
Two or three assistants(managers) report to him as CEO, each having their own field of expertise, accountability and responsibility.
Consultants (jockeys) are at hand on a daily basis to give advice, test the product(the horse's ability) and to demonstrate the product to the public (riding the horse in a race).

As a supplier(owner), I gave the company, not the CEO (trainer), my raw products (horses), with the understanding that the COMPANY will attempt to add value over a period of time (work in progress) to my RAW PRODUCT (horse) and sell (race for stakes) the finish product (horse).

Perhaps, if the trainer : thinks like a CEO, speaks like a CEO, dress like a CEO, act like a CEO, he will be a SUCCESSFUL CEO with a successfull training company.

Owners will then see the company and not the trainer.."that's not doing his work"

imagine ABSA CEO comming down to solve your problem at the teller...
breaking all the rules..
where are the managers that must take accountability and responsibility.

THEN ...SUDDENLY...a TRADING ROOM....MAKES SENSE...

We can start a PUNTERS/JOCKEY TRADING ROOM..

the TRAINERS/OWNERS TRADING ROOM can only work when run from within each stable, as the benefits will be contained in the stable/owners.

Tarry will not tip us, what's in it for him..

Forgot..

will have BETFAIR accounts too for each owner..will be legal soon..
then the stable will lay the fav for their own benefit..

just think..
30 owners
each having R1.5m in the pool
clerk trades 10% of each pool

R150K x 30 = R4.5m
fav laid at evens
cool R4.5m profit

owners happy
trainer get 10%
R450K

good business
ps..soccer..tennis..rugby..all happening...some underhand..some in the open..

either we get going or we will be left behind..
..ps..some are doing it already...

It can work if you control the groom.

Joe Soma brought it up about six months back.

Field in race six at the Vaal leaves from Turfontein on route to the Vaal.
On the truck are seven of the nine horses competing in race six.
The other two are on route from Randjies Fontein.

Groom with cell phone and a plan can help with the result.

Sounds like we have to start the GROOMS / PUNTERS trading room..

punt the tote: all the bets..no one knows any better..

the bookies are in the dark...
they claim the horses..and we dont care..because they cannot win..

and we split 50/50 with the grooms..
time we call a GROOMS / PUNTERS forum via the union...
where are the shop stewards...

we will have to Rica some sim cards...at the old age home...
when they trace the scheme..they end up with some 98 year old..with the shakes and who has forgotten his name...ja....me and you will end up there too..

lots of grandpa powders to stop the sprinters..400 from home..
Dr lennon and water for the legs...
maybe some EPO..but we need 12 weeks to do a proper job...
a few tips to the stipes..
some free "E's" at the Ranjesfontein parties..
and everyone is happy...

Balaminos as the chemical engineer..

P6's and PA's...we clean up...

forgot..we will stick the trainers and owners out..unless they join us..
