Fancy a 600 mt race (Tommy Hotspur)

Could you imagine Tommy Hotspur getting beat over 3 or 4 furlongs?
Sure we have a few early flying machines?
What are your thoughts on "Bullet" races?
British racecourses keen to stage bullet races
BRITAIN'S racecourses are to pursue the idea of introducing a series of Flat races over distances shorter than 5f.
The Racecourse Association is examining two models, early season contests for two-year-olds and an event for older horses that would climax in a final.
The races, known as bullet or dash races, are well established in other racing jurisdictions such as the United States. Two of the juveniles American trainer Wesley Ward brought to Royal Ascot this year had previously raced over 3f and 4 ½f.
A number of tracks have shown interest in staging such races but the RCA wants to gauge the reaction of owners and trainers before approaching the BHA.

Nou doubt in my mind nothing would have come close to TH in this country.
That filly of Stan Elley, Promises to Keep I think is her name....She is also pretty quick early on!!
It would certainly be exciting, only thing I'm wondering about is how it would affect the horses? If you push them too early to sprint like that surely you could only do damage?
I guess it is a personal preference for trainers. They would have to be some pretty handsome stakes before it would become worth it sending your early juveniles out over such short distances.

Over 2 or 3 furlongs Possum??????
Tommy Hotspur was 6 lenths clear of the nearest chaser going past the first 50 meters!!!!!
Shoe Shac was a great sprinter but he could run over 5 or 6 furlongs!! Loved the horse! Thought he could really run.
He was trained by Trevor Lange right? (I can't remember that well)

I must agree with Tommy Hotspur.
Whilst a "dash and go" may be exciting, I can not recall any horse that had won an 800 metre dash, that actually trained on to bigger things.

Horses trained/drilled for the moment ,unless they introduce these races for say horses that have had X amount of runs PRIOR,there will be alot of young horses not training on.
