Pocket power bt Jay peg , sun classique and others. They thrashed quality opposition from all over the world. Does that make him the best.

Forget about the arc and epsom. Dubai world cup is far superior because it showcases the best horses in the world. If the europe runners are scared to compete and retire after a good 6month stint,too bad. Take on the best in the world ,beat the best in the world and become the best in the world.

dubai world cup is run on dirt and you cannot compare a group one in england to dubai..its chalk and cheese..like winning the sa open tennis compared to wimbledon

I have respect for the Dubai world cup but because of when it is run and the fact that it is run on dirt the top European horses will more than likely never run there.

For me there is no greater test of stamina and speed than the Epsom Derby!!!

You have to be a top horse to win this race, nevermind any other races!

Pirates,maybe you never get my point. We dont have overseas runners coming to s.a or india or kenya so dubai is perfect to prove yourself world class. A world champ should be able to win on grass or turf.

he won the biggest and best races in the world and he won them like the true superstar that he is..he won 6 group ones at 6 different racecourses in a row ...dubai has got money money money but as long as i have a hole in my aas will it ever come close to the english classics and arc in france..

scarface if you want to be woRLD CLASS on dirt you must prove yourself in the states and on grass prove yourself in england.. FOR ME there are different levels of group one races and winning a group one in england is a far higher achievement than winning one in dubai

Valid points, Pirates. One interesting point to note is the form of Youmzain.

In the Arc, he's finished 2nd to Sea The Stars (2 lengths), 2nd to Zarkava (2 lengths), and 2nd to Dylan Thomas (half a length).
In the Sheema Classic, he's finished 4th to Eastern Anthem (2.50 lengths), 5th to Sun Classique (3.75 lengths) and 3rd to Vengeance Of Rain (1.75 lengths).

I doubt many would rate the Sheema Classic ahead of the Arc, but Youmzain as a line horse makes a good case for the Sheema Classic being right up there with the best races in Europe.

So by that standard then Pocket Power and Sea the stars should be very close to each other if we run a "virtual race"???????????

(Sun Classique and Jay Peg represent that age group from SA. Jay Peg won the Duty Free and Sun Classique the Sheema Classic.....Neither one of the could hold a candle to the big horse Pocket Power)

I'm the biggest pocket power fan in the world, but even I know that between these two race horses it will be no race. Sea the Stars would win every time they meet!!

good point sabre but sea the stars won the arc in a common canter after not settling for most of the race and encountering traffic problems..the best iv ever seen in my racing career..also when at his best he was never put under pressure so how much more did he have to come...

Match Race between Sea the Stars and Well Armed would sort out the arguement..
