SEA THE STARS TO FILL HIS BOOTS.

The big question is how much will Sea The Stars ask for a cover after a gliterring career comes to an end,and obviouslly he will have a full book,as he fills his boots.

It probably depends if the Tsui's decide to sell him or not, no doubt Darley stud would like to grab him.
There are a number of factors which will decide where he goes- but the best option imo would be the Irish National Stud. Reason being it's a " neutral" venue in terms of Coolmore vs Darley.
This would ensure he gets qaulity mares from both teams.
One thing is for sure he will be stealing alot of mares that may have gone to Galileo.

I would guess that he will go for anything between 60-100 thousand a pop.

Can you imagine a super star with an attitude?

So what do the Breeders/owners do ?
Do they jump in and use him straight away or do they wait?
Will his first crop fetch massive prices?

I reckon his stud fee will start at around £75,000 - £100,000 and if his first crop proves successful it will increase dramatically...

Christopher Tsui, owner of Sea The Stars, feels the colt's career at stud will be as significant as his epic achievements on a racecourse.
He told the Guardian: "There are, of course, many factors to be considered when retiring a horse from racing.
"It is also a big responsibility, as Sea The Stars has become so dear to the public.
"I have of course read opinions of race fans on the internet and I would like to (say) thank (you for) the overwhelming support from most people.
"There are, of course, some who feel his career was too short and want to see him race more. Some comments were quite nasty, actually, but most were understandable.
"As a racing fan, I didn't want to see him retire either, as each race has brought me joy and excitement beyond anything I could ever dream of.
"I am undoubtedly his biggest fan. However, as his owner there are things to consider beyond just the joys of watching him race.
"He has proven himself to be a great champion. Whether he is the greatest will be open to debate forever.
"It is already a privilege to be mentioned in the same breath as legends such as Nijinsky, Sea Bird and Mill Reef. To me, he is of course the greatest ever - but I guess I might be a little biased.
"Racing to us is only the first part of his career. Breeding is just as important, maybe even more."

Can anyone think of any other sons of Cape Cross at stud? I'm having a senior citizen moment and have gone blank!

Pivotal a proven sire goes for £60k i doubt it that Sea The Stars will start that high. If he proves himself then anything is possible and his fee will go up.
At this stage there is a train of thought that says that he should have stayed in training for 1 more season. If they chose that route he would surely have had the following at his mercy:
Sheema Classic (March) £2.1m
The Lockinge stakes (may) £150k
Coronation cup (june) £161k
Eclipse (july) £283k
The Juddmonte (Aug) £340k
Arc (oct) £2.1m
Breeders cup (nov ) £1.8m
Serious figures that i doubt he can achieve at stud.
