Sixth member of the international team to face South Africa on Nov 21st is Halis" the Magician" Karatas a very succesful and respected Turkish Jockey.

Karatas has so far in his career racked up 3125 winners from 11200 rides for an amazing 27 % strike rate.

The 35 year old Jock according to his fact file had his first ride in 1985 at the very young age of 11 and 3 years later took the apprentice title.

His long list of major Group wins includes; three Gazi Derby(1996, 2005, 2006) which is the most prestigious race of Turkish Racing Calendar, six Prime Ministry Cup Stakes(1995,1996,1997,2002,2003,2008), four International Topkapý Trophy (1994,1998,1999,2007), three International Bosphorus Cup( 1996, 2002, 2008) and also The Capre Verdi Stakes in 2005 Dubai World Cup.
