Chjimes favourite for a large part of the lead up to the race yet 12/1 with bookies.

Lets hope that checks are equally as stringent at night.

Al never watched the betting, but its well known that bookies don`t turn up to kempton night racing and massive drifters is common place, especially when theres a horse battered of the borads like the above race.

Also a well known tipster that the bookies are shit scared of tipped a horse in the race, and they run a mile from him

AN investigation has been launched into what has been described as possibly “the worst ever starting price returned on a British racecourse”.

Course bookmakers are facing demands to explain why favourite Giant Sequoia was sent off at 4-9 in the last race at Kempton on Wednesday night having shortened from 4-6, while at the same time drifting from evens to nearly 6-5 on Betfair.

There was a massive 141 per cent over-round on the race, a 13-runner 1m4f handicap.

On Friday David Hood, racing director of William Hill, one of seven bookmakers betting at the track, made the startling admission that no effort was made to push out prices among the rest of the field as the odds-on Giant Sequoia contracted during a 19-minute delay to the 9.20 race caused by fog.

The Jane Chapple-Hyam-trained gelding was beaten into third by 5-1 winner Silent Act.

Earlier, Jim Donnelley, spokesman for the Starting Price Regulatory Commission, said: “We are investigating and have asked for reports on what happened and the betting on the race. I should know more in a couple of days."

Tony Calvin, Betfair spokesman, said: “It must be a prime contender for the worst SP ever returned on a British racecourse – and punters deserve to know why.”
