Owners rare stakes.

On Saturday my partners and myself had a rare stakes cheque payout as our field scratched down to 4 runners.It is very seldom that this occurs and as an owner the first 5 places receive a gratuity cheque,i was wondering what actually happens to the 5th place price when their are only 4 participants,can anyone comment if they have had a simular experience?

Morning zoro, received from stake administrator via email.

I do not understand the gratuity bit. We paid the four places
as per normal for race 9 Racemeeting 24/10/2009 held at Turffontein .

Nothing strange about the race as we had races like that before.

The 5th place stake goes back into the Stakes Pot.
