I can see your point Magic, only thing is that you should not wait oh lets say 5 to 7 minutes before an objection is lodged. It should be almost instantaneous. I'm not saying we should be like the Americans, but they lodge and decide on objections within 3 to 5 minutes after the race has won.....How long does it take in SA?

Bloodshot I think you make a good point..its not "what" the end result was but rather "how" the end result was achieved.
Ive read the stipes reports on all the races run that day and a couple of points stand out
1. Up until that race specimens were taken for analysis on the winners only
2. In that race specimens were taken on Smanje only (who ended up 2nd)
3. From that race on specimens were taken for analysis on 1st and 2nd placed horses..Why was that?
4. Also on all races prior and post that race there were stipes comments on most runners in the race..on that race only reference is made as to the objection made by Jock David and that an inquiry will be made into the riding of Jock Strydom

Magiclips-sorry to drag out the argument but in my time there was no way a jockey could get to lodge an objection before the stipes as we saw the race in front of us long before jocks got back to weigh in - the new rule of affordind anyone with a race review now allows a third party to make an informed decision and then lodge a deposit and object- the point is that if it was clear cut the stipes have an obligation to do the job yet they hang on and wait -why? enough said now i respect yours and others point of view but i say again -STIPES DPO THE JOB YOU ARE PAID TO DO AND GIVE EVERYONE CONFIDENCE

The reason the stipes did not object was because the riding master had already given his intention to object on behalf of Derreck David & they were just waiting for Derreck to sign for the objection fee. I hope this helps?

The late Harry O issued strict instructions that no trainer or jockey were allowed to lodge an objection on behalf of any of his horses. He believed that doing so was the responsibility of the stipes.
If he was right ,the stipes should do their job,not hope somebody else might. In the above example, why did jockey David have to risk the deposit when this could have been avoided by the stipes actions?
