Statement from Scotia.

I have received an influx of calls and emails suggesting I make a statement to counteract the numerous personal attacks on my character made by a certain website
It has also been suggested that I take legal advice.

However, as mentioned previously I have no intention of visiting the site generating this bitterness towards me, so I find it difficult to give a comprehensive reply.

I do think it incumbant upon me however, to sketch some background in regard to the birth of ABC and where it is today, especially for the people who are able to keep an open mind in terms of the critisims leveled against me.

Please see below:

Chris Sturdy and myself started the site meeting via the betfair forum and we thought it would be good to have a SA equivalent.
It went reasonably well, but we were outlawed by racing authorities due to our cavalier attitude.

We subsequently took Jess on as a partner he was also part of the concerned owners group with Larry at the time.

Things started to go sour for both groups, the concerned owners, Jess and Larry could not see eye to eye on the best way forward and we had much the same problem in ABC.

I, felt we had to change our image. Chris and Jess however, were happy with the status quo.

We had reached the point where there was an im-passe and we could not work together. Financial figures were bandied around with the proposal for either me to take the site and change the image, or for Jess and Chris to buy me out and keep the same formula.

Eventually It was mutually agreed that they would sell to me and I have spent the last couple of years changing the image of ABC to what it is today

I was told at the time, that I would not last 2 months and I can only perceive these attacks to be based on professional jealousy.

Anyone who knows me is well aware of the kind of person I am and I, also have numerous emails and site postings to give the full story on any posts you may have read, but I am not prepared to justify myself to a few negative gentleman out to destroy the work and effort I have contributed in making ABC what it is today.

It's easy to go through various emails/posts and to "cherry pick" the bad ones without adding the full background and responses applicable at the time. I also have many to choose from, but don't have the time or the inclination to live in the past.

In life we have two sides to every story, and then there is the truth. But I suggest we let these gents carry on with whatever it is they are trying to achieve, afterall it keeps them busy. ABC posts past and present seem to consume them, so what the hell, let them have a ball.

How none of the "intelligent" searchers for truth and justice members of their site never pulled them up on the fact that Facebook is available in 70 Languages and if you check the id number of the pages listed above they are infact the same.

We had around 30 fans of Facebook up until around the time of the Acheivers day at the bigT,when the guys and gals we invited joined as fans.This then encouraged their freinds to join we now have around 90 fans Majority of which come from Pretoria Uni.

So yes Acheivers day was a great success!!!

Seems like that when money talks, the whole truth walks.

On the 1st of September Dave Scott, Mr African Betting Clan, posted these impressive facts on his website. The growth is astonishing and remarkable. I have been told on good authority that many websites obtain income and advertising revenue through the number of hits on the site (.e. its popularity). What would motivate a website to try and increase the number of hits? Is it those words "sponsors and site contributions"?

My response

I created the twitter account on the 27th of August ,which blows the bullshit above out of the water.

I put on average 2 or 3 posts a day on Twitter and facebook usually the daily selection posts for local racing and announcements,etc etc

If anybody can`t see the benefits of marketing, to any buisness then they can Bite ma erse..


On a superimposed picture of a well known racing celebrity placed on the front of a Choo Choo train that i am getting the blame for,and supposedly caused a massive Furore at the time.

I am guilty of copying the image from the homepage and uploading it to the forum,who ever was in charge of doing the homepage at the time perhaps could tell us where he got the Image?








I don`t intend on taking any further action although being called u conman on a public forum is nasty and hurtful..

We all have different views of the same thing -

Blah Blah Blah Blah , Dave Scott this site is fantastic for racing . It focuses on the punters and issues that has to be dealt with for the sake of racing in this country .

But I do agree with Pirates and believe that freedom of speech , whether it hate speech or whatever should not be removed from this site unless it becomes really difficult to deal with .

ABC is a strong site with lots of faithful posters . Let the posters decide for themselves on what stays and what goes .

Dave..you must be very important when people start writing about you on other sites..
besides..you must rule the guy..sitting between his ears on a lazy-boy and giving him hell...????
