I'm gonna side with Mr Justin Snaith in this one

The last four winners of this event were
Express Way(2005) Jay Peg(2006) Russian Sage(2007) and Le Drakkar(2008).
All went on to win the Cape Guineas a month later except Russian Sage. He was runner up to Pointing North in the Guineas, and won the Cape Derby soon after that.

If Captain's Secret runs here, it will soon be 4 out of 5 Guineas winners for the Selangor.

This race is definetly worthy of its Grade 2 status. As we all know, the top horses from the younger age groups ( future "champions") all leave our shores.

Therefore ,if anything racing authorities should be upping the profile of 2 and 3 year old races.

One could argue these races are more competitve, as it's the best from each respective generation competing, not just the left over horses that were unable to past vet tests for Dubai and the like.
