It looked like a dustbowl to me, especially coming around the turn.

That was my only bet of the day and as per usual I have been shafted up the rear. Pointless wasting space for only 1 entry.

I want to ask a question.
If you compare racing in Kimberly and racing on the Vaal sand? Do you have a preference? Do you enjoy one centre more than the other?
I don't mean quality of horse, more style of racing..
I must humbly admit....I cannot STAND Vaal sand racing. The racing is boring. Horses almost never win from behind and the finishes is strung out terribly about 80% of the time.
Do you guys have other opinions on this matter?

Tommy Hotspur - Couldn't agree with you more!
When they opened this track 'they' ( whoever 'they' are ) droned on relentlessly about the detailed research they had done....yaddah yaddah yaddah.
Had they actually really done any international research instead of simply setting up a glorified training/exercise track they might just have noticed that the exciting sand/synthetic/polytrack venues tende to be relatively tight circuits with SHORT run-ins.
Instead we are inflicted with these 'last man standing' type events with a crocodile file of ever more exhausted horses seeming to plough their furrows to the finish.
It's a bore no matter what spin you try and put on it.

you are incorrect, countless delegations have travelled abroad to promote and learn on behalf of SA racing. Also many many palms have been greased to ensure that racing as it should be IS NOT!!! Do YOU think its easy running multiple scams? Sand/Lights/Stakes/AGM's the list is endless. We should praise the okes for they juggle so many balls and spin so many stories that they actually believe what they say and they do it in the light of day in our faces and laugh all the way to the bank.
