I have recently started to make comparisons between Kimberly and Vaal sand just for the hell of it.

I would 100 times rather back a horse in Kimberly than I would at the Vaal. If a horse comes from off them it can NEVER (almost never) win on the vaal sand, at least at Kimberly they do come from well off them and the sand seems a whole lot better there

Nobody cares to listen to the punters anyway. The punting public should boycott unting for ONE week only just to see what reaction we could get.
I know this will never happen as the majority of the punting public don't even read the newspaper or certainly don't have internet, but something has to be done for the punter to have their voices heard!!!!!

Viva!! Amandla!!! and all those good sayings!

STRIKE BOYS STRIKE!!!!

Sorry guys to be negative again - just watching the first couple of races this looked worse than the old kimberly track - would be interesting to here what Louis Goosen and others have to say and maybe a few jocks- the kick back looked really bad

Most of the trainers and Jocks with "winners" sounded positive, but wonder what the Jocks facing the sand have too say?

Nothing. They were too busy trying to get the Sahara out of their mouths, ears, noses, etc. Maybe it will be better next time.

Luckily, like any punter I can excersize my option of not having a punt on the sand at the Vaal.....EVER again!!

Wish them all the best with their sand racing.

Never say never...As I've always said, the Vaal may have the worst designed sand track in the world but it makes an excellent alternative to the turf and gives horses that battle on grass a shot at a 'second' career.

I wonder if we are going to get a 'third' type of horse - Grass, Vaal Sand(old), Vaal Sand(new). Looks to me as if some former specialists may now flounder at this track. Also over ground the sand might favour those that run on as the frontrunners labour - early days yet and big results in store as the sand gets tweaked methinks - really does remind me of the old kimberley if you are not up with the pace you are gone

Mr H,there seemed to be an even bigger emphasis on speed yesterday and the inside rail on the lead was the place to be.

Was not until later on in the day that horses seemed to start picking up from the back Showroom and the "old sand" specialist Softly Breezing etc etc ..

Magic,

The horses may get given a second chance at a career on sand but not me....I have been scratched at the start....intractable, can't load, stubborn as a mule!!!

NEVER!!!
