As good as it gets!! SA's best entered for the 2010 J&B Met.

J&B Met day - Cape Town's racing showcase!
Just about every big name in the country has been entered into this season's J&B Met, including a strong JHB contingent headed by Highveld star Oracy (C.Laird), who failed to win his 6th start in a row and justify favouritism last weekend in the Summer Cup. Ultra impressive 4yr olds Dan De Lago (C.Laird) and Seattle Ice (G.Woodruff) are there to support, and so is the Dubai bound Mother Russia, who now bats for the Mike De Kock stable (ex. J.Ramsden). Also in from De Kock is Meet at Malamala and Rudra, last year's runaway winner of the Summer Cup who hasn't been seen out since.
Pocket Power (M.Bass) unbeaten in the Met, is the only horse in SA history to have won this race 3 consecutive times and now bids for an unprecedented 4th straight victory. He leads the CPT defense with primary backup from sis River Jetez (M.Bass) and Vodacom July winner Big City Life. (G.Kotzen)
Ex Dubai campaigners Strategic News (D.Cunha) and Lion's Blood (H.Brown) are both in for KZN, along with the up and coming Sport's Factor and Goat for the Lafferty stable.
There's a even a blast from the past in the form of old timer Jagged Ice, who made his return to racing last week after a 2 year racing absence, now trained by Shane Humbey (ex. D.Kannemeyer). NB. July placed Forest Path has also changed stables and takes his place in the Met entry list for trainer Stephen Page (ex M.De Kock)

Strategic News imo is better than before he won the Summer Cup. He has grown and improved as he is still lightly raced and he had the time he needed. He did well in Dubai and came back in top condition. We have sorted his serious ulcer problems out which has taken nearly two years and he is now in tip top condition. The only concern I have with him is he needs a hard run race with lots of pace which he got in the Summer Cup and in Dubai when he won and that is a big worry in CT and unfortunately our yard is not big enough to ensure there is pace! He is running next Sat in the Premiers Trophy where he is weighted to win so it will be interesting to see how he does and that will clearly give you an indicator to whether he will get back to his best on a race course or not. Glyn Schofield has been in contact with me to ride him in the Met but that weighs upon how his prep goes.
I hope you find this useful...
