Baby Races
15 years 5 months ago
Last week Snaith goes on national television
says his 2y old fillies 'neva been on the grass'
get backed
run 1 & 2
Coetzee gets off tells national tv
'when I galloped this 1 on the grass
I knew it couldnt get beat'
is that not blatantly sticking us punters away
unacceptable!!
I would love to hear an explanation from Snaith
regarding his comments.

Ran 1-2-3 actually. And wasn't winner ridden by Fayde'Herbe?
We should expect the occasional fib especially as we come from a tradition where secrecy was enshrined in our jockey Club rules. But that never included being caught in a lie.
Also looking forward to their response

What about getting real babies to have races bet on them.

You 100% correct Jack Dash
1st 3 places
Faydeherbe
still is it right that the man tells us he's horses has not seen the grass?
when obviously they have
why lie to us?

12/1 - 2/1. And you wonder why they lie ? I agree - if they want to pull off coups, they should rather only give interview race-time and then tell the truth. Please don't mislead the public intentionally to line your own pockets. Behaviour like that won't be getting them another Beck anytime soon...

Supposidly the baby didint specifically come to gallop...came along as a work companion for Dance with Al....so yes it did have a feel of the course but no it didnt gallop specifically with other babies...so draw your own conclusion.....

Well if it did work with Dance With Al and came within 10 lengths of that one, surely it would be a good thing in the race??
Johno Snaith is normally quite forthcoming with info. To me he is to Cape Racing what Mike Azzie is in Jozi. He is very outspoken about his horses and extremely passionate about his runners.
Hope he hasn't learned some bad habits and is now "into punting"

With all due respect Hotline
if a trainer is going to have a bet on a youngster
he's not going to gallop it with other babies
he's going to gallop with a tried horse so he can get a line
I agree with TH
if it came with in 10 lengths of Dance With Al
the juvenile must be a certainty
considering shes a gr 2 winner
the whole thing was under handed
theres no excuse for lying to us

Talking about Transparency from trainers...
Lifted from the Racingpost:
FRESH flapping allegations centred on Wolverhampton have emerged, following the withdrawal of a second horse in a matter of weeks at the Dunstall Park circuit.
Irish raider Palmetto Point was backed to land a gamble in an extended 1m handicap on November 16, before being declared a non-runner following intervention by BHA officials.
The five-year-old, trained by Shaun Harley, was supposedly returning from a 12-month break, having been sold since racing in Britain for Hughie Morrison, but alarm bells sounded when investigators were tipped off that he could have been running on the Irish flapping circuit in the interim.
The BHA is already investigating claims that the George Baker-trained Mondego, withdrawn from a race at Wolverhampton on October 23 after winning two races within the space of five days earlier in the month, had been flapping in Ireland under the name Reverse The Hearse.
Paul Struthers
Knowingly running a flapping horse under rules is a serious disciplinary offence that carries potentially heavy penalties and Mondego will not be allowed to race until the investigation is completed.
BHA spokesman Paul Struthers said: "I can confirm we did receive intelligence that Palmetto Point might have been running at unrecognised race meetings in Ireland and, with the full co-operation of the trainer, the horse was withdrawn.
"We will continue to use such disruption tactics to protect racing and the betting public, and following on from Mondego's withdrawal for similar reasons, we are working closely with the Turf Club in tackling this issue.
"At this stage, I cannot say any more on the matter."

Dont shoot the messenger....just telling you as i heard it....if he has lied on tv then he should be quizzed on it as to why....seems strange though that he would blatantly lie knowing that he filled in the GC form that authorized the baby to gallop with the filly entered in a graded race?Surely doesnt make sense to lie abt it?Thats all from my side....
