Highlights of 2009

Good morning, just sending out my year end emails and thought it would be a good idea to list the highlights of 2009

For me it was Clan Classique winning a race and Sea the Stars winning the ARC, what do you say?

Hollywood's 100th winner, Sea the Stars winning the Arc, Sariska winning the Irish Oaks, Zenyatta winning the Breeders Cup, complemented by Trevor Denman's unforgettable commentary, and Pocket Power doing the Queens Plate/Met hattrick.

I should have added the return of night racing in Jozi. It's hard to cut the list down! Lowlights would include the commingling saga and the death of Victory Moon, but I suppose this isn't the time and place to be negative.

Nothing wrong, feel free to add the lowlights.

My highlights (personal)

Taking over as racing manager of WF (working with Magic and George), tipping a full house of exotics in my first stint in the WF hotseat while Magic was away (he is such a great journalist/tipster, felt I had to keep the quality at its highest) and racing with a few new great friends at Turffontein for the 1st time- Just being part of this great industry is a highlight in itself.

Worldwide

See The STars, Gavin Lerena's success on IJC day, Pocket Power (being the horse he is), Man U winning the league (again), Experiencing racing in PE and Jozi, Hear The Drums.

Goals 2010

Market racing in SA.

Pocket Power winning the Met was definately the Highlight for me,although enjoyed Aslan winning the Summer Cup and the Lights being Switched on at Turffontein.

Hear the Drums deserves a mention as does Oracy,still think there is a big one in him?

Loads of stars on the International scene,Whats left say about Sea the Stars ? still not sure if he`s the greatest as some of his generation tailed of at the end of the year,but he by far the best horse in Europe 2009..

Although im sure the best Filly on the planet Goldikova(don`t believe the hype surrounding Rachel and zenyatta)Would give Sea the Stars a run for his money over 1600m!!



Still miss big Henry at the gates..........

For willy the sheep was his sudden demise was a low light.

Mine was Manne winning the title against odds.

Low was losing a bottle of blue because Manne got suspended so often.
