I want a badge...???

Why as a owner do i not have a badge why must i be a member of the RA to have a badge.
Considering that if there were no owners there would be no racing.That's the bottom line no Phumelela,no Trainers, no Jockeys, no Grooms,Nata nothing.

As a owner i have no badge i have nothing that remotely suggests or shows that i am an owner or part of racing, except if i was a member of the RA which with all the current goings on i choose not to be a member as i feel that i would get absolutely no representation from them . As i see it they are in bed with Phumelela .

Why should i have to pay R30 to have a seat in the Furious room if i opt not to eat. Why is there not a lounge for OWNERS who go racing. Why do all owners not have special parking why only RA members.

I don't believe that we should have to belong to any other organization or group to recieve our badges we are owners and we should be treated accordingly.

And there should be an independent owners association that has the owners not (trainers and owners) only the OWNERS interests at heart and give them representation in all aspects of racing.

How much does the RA badge cost per annum?

gregbucks, I don't think you pay for the badge; you get a badge when you join the RA; I think currently the yearly subscription is in the region of R1200, and then you get a new 'stub' to put on the badge every season

Okay I see so what do you get from the RA for R1200 APART from a badge and FREE parking....I'm just trying to find out if its worth joining or not??

gregbucks, you get the opportunity to make use of the Elevation room, which is supposed to be exclusively for RA members; they negotiate the 'confidential' stakes agreement on behalf of the owners with P - think you will get the details on their website.

However, I normally dine in the Furious room (where my kids are allowed), I park (for free) next to the parade ring; the stakes apply to all owners (but they do occasionally offer a 'bonus' stake for RA members)

Frodo, I didn't realise you were not allowed to bring your kids to the Elevation Room, that will rule me out then....what happened to this game being a family occasion, how are you your kids suppose to follow this sport if they not allowed to attend with there parent??

gregbucks, last time I checked, kids under 12 not allowed in the Elevation (and at the time the Furious was a 'smoking' venue - so one could not bring one's kids racing as Calvin's is also a 'smoking' venue - at least now the Furious is supposed to be 'non-smoking' so it suits us fine) - guess the RA is not a 'family orientated' organisation.

Times have changed hey guys...when I was a kid,if my old man had taken me a) to the races & b)to a licensed area within........he would have had to deal with the cops and child welfare.
Amazing to me now that racing had a so much worse image then,and yet was so much more strictly policed and dress codes etc. were applicable
