imho the jockey's head bobs usually early in the race when the reigns are held/pulled back to avoid the horse running out. You will see him pitched high and perched slightly backward in the saddle. Towards the end when the horse is encouraged to give it all the head doesnt bob and the jockey's body is low and almost alongside the horse's neck, hands free with whip.

Rob faux... Stephen Swanepoel used to bounce in the saddle in a finish, in the same rhythmn as the horse's stride...

watch strydom or fortune..
perfect harmony with horse's stride..
the rest..most like a bunch of monkeys jumping up and down on the horse's back..especially when they go past the stands and the punters cheering..
