Interesting Shayne, what was the dual pot?

Does anyone remember or use to attend racing at the old racecourse in Benoni (Dunswart)... I use to live near there and found plenty horse shoes in my yard... I presume my property were the stables.

I think the Dual was a bet where you had to pick the winner or 2nd horse in 4 consecutive races. The Cape had a similar thing called the Quinpot, but that was over 5 races. Not bad bets, really, though I could be mistaken on the details.

I'd love to see pics of courses that are long gone, like East London, Welkom and the original Fairview, which was located on Cape Road at the site where that enormous shopping/business park now sits.
