Pepperpot adds spice to 1300m Aloe Handicap

HAROLD STERLEY
- Jockey Daniel Bogaleboile has been having a quiet time of things in Port Elizabeth in recent weeks but he could swing things round when he lines up in the Aloe Handicap over 1300m today. He has been booked to ride Pepperpot in this handicap.

This three-year-old filly has won three races to date and was partnered by Bogaleboile each time. Her most memorable win was her most recent, when she beat A Star For Maria over 1400m at Fairview in November last year.

She was extremely consistent between July and December 2009 and has only had one race this year, when tiring late behind Sleek ‘N Sassy over the minimum trip at Arlington. She was clearly in need of that outing and is sure to strip a much fitter and sharper horse.

Stable companions Bellafont and Detsky’s Darling have both run behind Pepperpot before and are good back-ups if Pick 6 punters are looking for a banker.

Sarah Em finished ahead of Pepperpot in their latest encounter, that 1000m sprint, and had beaten her twice before that. But the first time they met, over 1200m at Fairview, Pepperpot won by more than 10 lengths.

The 1300m trip at Arlington just may suit Pepperpot more, but conservative punters will include both fillies in permutations.

Dance Lecture and Tanzania are both useful on their day and are worth including in Trifecta and Quartet bets.

Re: PLACES TO THE RESCUE

I foresee a tough tough day so perhaps a day for roughies in places??

R2#13 Wolfcatcher:
Smith Soll (11/2) The filly Wolfcather is not too far off in recent events and meets a relatively weak field (aMR 52) here. Contributing factor is only carrying 53kg on her back today which is a significant 5kg less than most of the field. (exluding 14,15,16 that has little form (#16 can improve from debut) She has run 2 weeks ago and her last 3 runs was not bad in above AMR60 company every time and this is a much weaker field, especially her last run was decent finishing 3rd with Soll on her back carrying 55,5kg. Soll won the 2nd for Smith on Tuesday and I expect this combination to try win the 2nd again today. Add (#'s 2,11,1,16,3 for Quartets)

R3#1 Marot (6/1)
Smith Kennedy Argentinian Import Marot has shown vast improvement since landing in EC. Taken over from Woodruff in May2009 after showing nothing in JHB, made a teriible EC debut over 1600 after being in care of Smith for 2 months. Appr Sola then took the ride and immediately showed good improvement running on over 1800. Last run prior to the rest was it's best running on very well closing in fast for a good 2nd 0.10 lenghs behind. One would expect further improvement coming from the 95 day rest today and given that Smith has 2 reserves also entered in this race he had options so I am assuming Marot must be ready to show here drawn well at 6 stable Jockey Kennedy choising this ride above the other 4 Smith entries (Take a chance to banker Smith in your P6 here since Syco Star could aslo win this, but to be safe add the Bremner coupling #14/16)

R3#14 Night Divine (5/1)
Bremner Whitmore This JT combination has not finished unplaced this CD 2-2 and will again be in the hunt today for yet another place. Last run was from 15/16 draw almost winning so the 13 draw should not be a problem

R4#8 Tracey's Tribute (20/1)
DA Mchlahlan Figueroa Tracey's Tribute has only run once at ARL and that was in a AMR78 1600 carrying 52 kg. He is coming back from a rest today after showing signs running on over 1200 last run running 3rd and gets Figueroa for the ride today. Interestingly to note that although he has not performed in 1600 company he has run vs much stronger in 1600 events, not only the AMR78 at ARL but also the EC Guiness being backed from 25 into 15/1.Furthermore his MR has dropped by 12 points or 6 kg in the last 8 runs so he should start getting competitive from this mark. The JT combination has 1/4 wins and 2/4 places so I suspect a good run coming from the rest here to place at awesome odds of about 5.00.

Race 8 # 5 Summer School (6/1)
Steenkamp Herholdt This combination between Jockey and horse seldom falters and in AMR58 company even though just winning his MDN must be the one to beat again here. Dist 8/9 and CD 4/4 I still believe 1000 is the best distance for Summer School and here he is ultra consistent. Herholdt will be trying him form the front all the way and he could win if he does not get eaten up at the end, but to me good enought to be an accumulator bet.

And have a great day...if 2 of them come we are making a profit (or only Tracey's Tribute?

Regards,

Loopy Logic
