World Cup + Racing

Do you think the tracks will be buzzing for the month?
Will they be showing the early kick offs on the big screens?
Im sure their marketing have bought up loads of Ad space papers, radio and TV ,plus have flyers printed up and distributed to every Hotel,Pub etc.
Massive opportunity hope they grab it!!
How can they attract the overseas cash?

No July during World cup....but does Platini know the difference between the JULY and the UMGENI plate....Who and how do they decide what is allowed to compete with the soccer? I assume normal racing will continue!

It will have to stay Soccer 6, they will not be allowed to use World Cup name or anything related to the world cup....

According to "Kortbroek" minister of tourism & co we had
2008 - 10,000,000 tourists
2009 - 10,000,000 tourists
2010 - 10,000,000 hopefull
Why would racing get more money.
surely then in 2008 and 2009 we should have seen an increase in racing..
Or are the 2008/2009 tourist from Zim..???
sounds like it.. the 2010 tourist have booked the rental cars X 6..
does that imply that the 2008/2009 resorted to car hijacking vs car rental??
during the world cup 95 we did not see an incease in racing..
during the 2009 Fedcup we did not see an increase in racing..
as for the Nigerians..
they only wash the drug money at the bookies..
takes R200k/R200k on a team that has won..
bookie enters bet afetr the event.
takes R12k tax and another R18k management fee.. writes a cheque and all is legal...
another R170k drug money has been made legal.
the real soccer punters plays avarage R12 - R13 per ticket...
on R12 - R13 per ticket there is no reason to get involved in sports betting.

Started my 2010 government assistance program over the weekend.
knocked a few stupid already..
they will remember to stay clear...
I must look like a tourist with the casual clothes I wear during the week.
some days I go to town with my sandles (crocs), short and shirt..
when you get out of the car..they charge you down..
all trying to speak english...shouting "2010...soccer"...bla.bla..
grab you by the arm and want to pull you into a shop...
I love it...
A fair fight..
5 or 6 of them and me..
2 min and they are sleeping...
creating a safe south africa for 2010...

Big news story in the UK tonight,ITN claim that South Africa are facing a financial disaster over the World Cup..
They state that only England have sold a chunk of their tickets but still have 6000 of their 29000 tickets left which is very unusual for English fans. The Dutch have only sold 7500 of their 22000 the Germans still have loads of tickets left and the Danes have only sold 851 tickets out of their 17500 allocation, the associations blame the travel costs and security issues,Fifa and SA authorities blame scaremongering by the media..

Bob shooting a bit from the hip, but SA is a magic place to come and prices are great under normal circumstances and would have brought people back here for years but we have shot ourselves in the foot by being stupid with air prices and I am sure accomodation etc, by being greedy without considering the long term potential?
