Mark Khan-Tab Homepage

SIR,

I am writing to you in response to the numerous questions and rumours circulating with regard to my absence from racing.

In April 2009 I sustained an injury during a race when my mount broke its leg. This sidelined me for six weeks with a fractured scapula. A further fall re-injured the shoulder and an additional neck injury was sustained. For the past few months I have been consulting with the necessary doctors to address the issues and have been following a rehabilitation process. The length of this process is determined by the progress made.

I feel that as a professional it would be both irresponsible and unfair of me to rush the process thereby placing myself and my fellow competitors at risk and disadvantaging the trainers and owners who would expect me to be racing fit.

Furthermore, I need to state that racing is my way of life and the means by which I earn an income and that my intention is to return to race riding as soon as I am deemed 100% fit.

Mark Khan

Mark..
you are getting old..
best you get the message..
life has given you a warning..
step down..
either become a trainer or consultant for a punting syndicate or buy a BEE bookmakers license for R5k.
hard words, but true..

Once a jockey has fallen and broken something..he is never the same..
something in the back of the mind..haunting you..
very few or any every get over that..

same applies to other sports like boxing, F1 racing, Motor bikes, rugby etc...

I hope to see Mark back - I am happy that he has made this decision - good for SA racing.

All the best Mark - look forward to your return.

...i was gonna refer to another thread...Andre meant if a boxer gets knocked out it leaves a scar...and never the same...i never seen a boxer in the ring on a horse but some of them look like horses and come down like a half ton hippos...hard to recover...Tyson was never the same after that...

Hibs,

So with his return do you think it will spark some interest in SA racing over there?
Right now things look decidedly quiet from your end?
