Looks to be a few solid bets tomorrow Fort SLyvia should win and Torah should like the 2000m?

Decent looking sprint the 4th race with plenty of pace on the outside,Fancy Democratic Man to go close again..

Anyone got any strong fancies?

Mighty Assassin has Gladius to beat today. If he is not 100% then we might just shock him - Our guy has had work problems but his weight is good and though the times suggest he has a fair deal to find on Gladius I beleive that today will be a big test for gladius. I expect Boy Oh Boy to try to burn us all away with speed but I'm not sure if he stays 1450m - If he tries to set the pace then expect a really quick time today - The main thing is to be handy and save something for the final 200m - If my guy is within 2 lengths of the lead horse with 200m to go then watch out! No good thing and the early claim was not my money - racing for stakes today but do expect a top 4 finish(Mystic is an intresting runner if he takes part - three runs in about a week - and Argo Bay has beaten us before but our guy has got stronger after his 'rest')

MEL KAPLAN - GLADIUS scored with contempt over 1450m on the Vaal sand last time out, beating Forest by 6.25 lengths.

Back over the same distance at the course in Race 6 on Tuesday and with Willie Figueroa aboard again, he looks set to pocket first prize again.

The Ormond Ferraris-trained gelding is a four-year-old son of Silvano and was previously restricted to races over 1600m and 1800m. The reduced distance obviously suited him. It was also the first time Figueroa was given the ride. Certain horses perform extremely well for the Peruvian pilot - it certainly seems that Gladius is one of them.

Gladius won a Maiden Plate over 1800m on the Vaal turf at the second time of asking after putting in a mediocre debut. In seven subsequent runs he was never more than 7.75 lengths behind the winner, with a one-length second to Echohawk over 1800m on the Turffontein inside track his best effort during the lean spell.

His penultimate outing yielded a 3.25-length fifth behind Handsome Bullion, again over the Turffontein inside 1800m, and last time out he looked really at home on the sand and won with something in hand.

Back at the top of his game, he should take all the beating.

Mighty Assassin has run well over 1200m and 1450m at the track in two outings following a rest, finishing second on both occasions. He should be at a peak and is sure to be waiting in the wings to pick up the pieces if Gladius fails to reproduce his last run.

Torah is currently holding form well. He has a recent win over 1600m at this track to his credit and has won going away over 1600m on the Turffontein inside track since then. He was flying at the finish over that course and distance when second, 1.50 lengths behind Modern Drive in his latest race. He is bred to stay at least 2000m and will take a power of beating in Race 5, a MR 72 Handicap over 2000m.

Recent maiden winner Fort Sylvia looks set to follow up on a course-and-distance Maiden Plate win when she takes part in Race 8, a FM 75 Handicap over 1450m. The opposition is moderate and with a record of four seconds and a 4.75-length win over Bullion Fever in her record, the daughter of Fort Wood must only hold form to win. She looks the best bet on the card.
