MEL KAPLAN - Noble Heir takes on the boys in Race 8, the African Holly Handicap over 1000m, at Scottsville this afternoon. The Kahal filly carries 5kg less than she lugged to victory last time.
She is very speedy and unless the going comes up soft, which at the time of writing looks unlikely, she will make the others gallop hard to catch her before the line.
Some pundits have expressed the opinion that Noble Heir won’t beat Chigger Yellem with a swing of 1kg at the weights, since the latter beat her by almost four lengths on 6 December. But the track condition was soft that day and Noble Heir performs best on a faster track. Judged on their respective running styles it looks as if he will be hard pressed to confirm that form on the likely good going although he is partial to this course.
Noble Heir has Brandon Lerena up and she runs really well for him. The young jockey is a good judge of pace and will keep the pressure on from the start without making too much use of her.
Tirade is another speedy sort who has won after a rest and he comes into this race after an absence of 80 days. He is in receipt of 5.5kg from the filly and being lightly raced, could have something in reserve. He is possibly a bigger threat to Noble Heir than the other speedsters in the race. It may, however, be significant that stable jockey Ian Sturgeon has opted to ride Chigger Yellem and not Tirade.
Mr Top is better over 1200m but this race is likely to be run at a cracking gallop and he will be running on strongly at the finish.
In Race 3, the recent debut winner St Francis Court is given the nod. Gypsy Moon has good form and could win but is back from a fairly long break and could just need the run. Brilliant Guest has a few good efforts under the belt and although without a win after 12 runs, rates a danger too. The balance of the raced opposition is rather moderate, but respect betting support for any of the newcomers.

When did this guy write the article, its been pissing down at Scottsville since Sunday?
And how can St Francis Court be a debut winner if she is running in a maiden?
Shocking article as usual.

Hi Guys,
I have not written on this site for a while.
I must agree with you gregbucks, very poor article from Mr Kaplan. Ian Sturgeon cannot make the weight on Tirade that is why he is riding Chigger Yellem.
R6 - Orbit War
R8 - Tirade

Unless the Pmb weather has been very different to Durban it has not been pissing down continuously since Sunday. There was a big storm on Sunday night, but since then the rain has been light at most, although there has been a bit of rain every day (except today), and today is quite bright and breezy.
Of course it may be different up the road in Pmb, so let's wait for the track report. If it ever comes.

Pirates what amazes me is that Phum continue to publish this kuk on the website, every week there is some sort of mediocre journalism from these okes....so have to agree they don't give a continental fark!!! ... But we have become use to that from them by now....
Apparently it's gonna be a scorcher in PMB....

Pen reading 31 (at Scottsville??? GULP!!) Going is soft (no sh#t, Sherlock).
Could be chaotic results, but it promises to be a warm day so hopefully it will dry out a tad before racing starts. Still, it doesn't look like the sort of day to risk the rent money.
