EAGLE MOUNTAIN goes on trial for the Dubai World Cup at Meydan on Thursday, when he could meet Crowded House in the second leg of the Maktoum Challenge.
Trainer Mike de Kock is keen to give Eagle Mountain a taste of the new all-weather Tapeta surfaceat Meydan before a possible tilt at the world's richest race on March 27.
"It is a bit of an experiment but we need to find out now to decide whether or not he is a World Cup horse," said De Kock, who saddled the former Ballydoyle horse to win the Group 1 Hong Kong Cup in 2008.Full Article from the RacingPost

Crowded House set for Thursday Tapeta debut
CROWDED HOUSE will make his debut on the Tapeta all-weather surface at Meydan on Thursday when he runs in the second round of the Maktoum Challenge.
However, the four-year-old's rivals in the Group 3 event will not include Eagle Mountain after trainer Mike de Kock changed his mind and elected to run his Dubai World Cup hope in a 1m conditions race on Friday instead.
The Brian Meehan-trained Crowded House, who won on Kempton's all-weather as a juvenile, will be ridden by regular partner Jamie Spencer in the Maktoum Challenge II rather than waiting for Friday's Group 2 Al Fahidi Fort on the turf.
A fair second on turf on his Dubai debut earlier in the month, Crowded House will face a pair of De Kock challengers in the 1m½f Tapeta feature in the shape of course-and-distance winner Mr Brock and Mr Crazy Boy, the sole three-year-old in the field.
De Kock explained the apparent volte face after he said 24 hours earlier than Eagle Mountain, a Group 1 winner in Hong Kong, would make his Dubai debut in the Maktoum Challenge.
"After a lot of thought we decided to try him over a mile first time," said De Kock.
"World Cup night is a long way away and the shorter trip should suit on this occasion as he we build his fitness.
"We will at least find out if he handles the surface in race conditions - he seems to in his work."
In another twist, Poet - purchased out of the Aidan O'Brien yard to race for Rod Simpson - will contest this race for trainer Erwan Charpy.
Abu Dhabi-based Simpson explained: "He did not handle the fast turf on his debut for us so I recommended he was trained in Dubai so he could get used to the Tapeta. Erwan is a good trainer and he is a nice horse."

Frosty Secret: 6y/o (23) 3-6-5 (won 1200 and 1400m). Gr3 3rd in USA before joining MDK in Jan 2008. Finished in top 3 seven times from 11 starts in Dubai, including a Gr3 3rd. Beaten less than a length in 3rd two weeks ago.
RACE 3: $110k handicap, 2200 metres 22% wins/50% places
14(4) 96 Blaze Of Fire (GB ) - M de Kock/Latham (54.5)
Blaze Of Fire: 4y/o (9) 2-1-2 (won 1700 & 2000m). Conditions form in France. Tailed off at Jebel Ali in stable debut last week.
RACE 5: $175k handicap, 1400 metres 26% wins/56% places
2(6) 112 Hunting Tower (SAf) - M de Kock/Soumillon (58.5)
5(5) 110 Le Drakkar (Aus) - A bin Huzaim/Sanchez (57.5)
13(12) 100 Warsaw (Ire) - M de Kock/O'Donohoe (53.0)
Hunting Tower: 7y/o (41) 9-5-5 (won 1300 to 2200m). Won Dubai debut last year, and finished 2nd in a Gr2 two runs later. Two poor runs so far this year though.
Le Drakkar: 4y/o (6) 3-1-2 (won 1200 and 1600m). Gr1 and Gr2 wins in South Africa, along with 3rds in Gr1 and Gr3. First run with new stable and hasn't run in nearly 13 months.
Warsaw: 5y/o (14) 4-0-0 (won 1000 to 1400m). Well beaten in four Gr races in England before joining MDK, though against top sorts. Only once in the top three from 7 starts in Dubai, when winning last year, but has had three moderate to poor runs this year.
RACE 6: $250k UAE 2000 Guineas, GR3, 1600 metres 38% wins/70% places
13(13) 113 Musir (Aus) - M de Kock/Soumillon (59.5)

14(14) 102 Solid Choice (Aus) - M de Kock/Shea (59.5)
15(??) 98 Mr Crazy Boy (Arg) - M de Kock/??? (59.5) RESERVE RUNNER
Musir: 3y/o (4) 3-1-0 (won 1000 and 1400m). Easy Gr1 winner in South Africa. Ran on strongly to win Dubai debut two weeks ago despite 7 month break.
Storm Chispazo: 3y/o (5) 3-1-0 (won 1600 to 2500m). Easy Gr1 winner in Argentina last time out. First run for Brown and three months since last start.
Solid Choice: 3y/o (6) 2-0-1 (won 1200 and 1450m). Gr1 3rd in South Africa. Not beaten far when 4th in Dubai debut two weeks ago following 6 month break.
Mr Crazy Boy: 3y/o (4) 2-0-0 (won 1200m). Gr2 winner in South Africa. Modest Dubai debut two weeks ago off 8 month break.
$200k Al Maktoum Challenge Round 2, GR3, 1900 metres 25% wins/56% places
12(12) 112 Mr Brock (SAf) - M de Kock/Shea (59.0)
5(5) 107 Jet Express (SAf) - A Al Raihe/Ffrench (59.0)
1(1) 98 Mr Crazy Boy (Arg) - M de Kock/Soumillon (55.5)
Mr Brock: 6y/o (34) 7-6-1 (won 1450 to 2400m). Stakes 2nd in South Africa from 17 starts, 2 Gr1's and a Gr3 win in Mauritius from 5 runs, Gr3 2nd in France from 7 runs, Listed winner in Dubai last season from 4 starts. Easy winner two weeks ago on seasonal Dubai debut.
Jet Express: 7y/o (36) 9-4-4 (won 1400 and 1600m). Has won last 4 starts including Listed race at Jebel Ali last time out. Second in same Listed race last year. No success in 7 other feature efforts during his career in South Africa, France and Dubai.
Mr Crazy Boy: 3y/o (4) 2-0-0 (won 1200m). Gr2 winner in South Africa. Modest Dubai debut two weeks ago off 8 month break.
Personally, I expect Frost Secret to put up his usual honest run in race 2. Lui Rei looks interesting, if he's ready.
Le Drakkar is classy but we'll have to see how he goes off the break and with the new stable.
Musir for the Guineas looks an obvious choice but Solid Choice should put in a good effort as well. Storm Chispazo may need the run and find it too short but he looks like a good sort.
Mr Brock and Jet Express just seem to be getting better as they get older and hopefully they'll both put up good efforts. Not sure that Jet Express is quite Gr level though. Mr Crazy Boy gets the extra distance he needs but takes on older horses here. MDK knows what he's doing, so possibly a big run in store.
9(5) 102 Lui Rei (Ity) - H Brown/R Moore (58.5)

Brian Meehan has warned the Tapeta surface at Meydan may not suit Crowded House on the second run of his comeback in the Al Maktoum Challenge on Thursday.
The chestnut produced a fine effort on the grass course in Dubai a fortnight ago when second to Alexandros.
It was the former Racing Post Trophy winner's first start since finishing sixth in the Derby.
"I am not certain Crowded House will like the Tapeta and Jamie (Spencer, jockey) also has reservations about it but we feel we need to let him try it," Meehan told his website, www.brianmeehanatmanton.com .
