Fairview - Friday
15 years 4 months ago
Another hard day, but there are some nice races to look at.
Here are my selections by race:
Race 1: No selection as it is a very weak qualified maiden race!
Race 2: First choice would be Assembly Point, but healthy rspect for the fillies Miss du Bois and Model Fever. My sneaker here is First Samurai. He will improve plenty!!
Race 3: My best bet is now a scratching (Eastern Parade). Now becomes a bit of a crap shoot. Windy Whistle should go close but I fancy Princeton Gold. Gin strike for this one against the fillies. Doesn't have to be too bright to win
Race 4: Debonair Man has good form but I fancy Cruising the Blues. He is 1kg better of for a two length beating. Schlechter is in decent form and he has to be better than teetan last week. The other one in the race is In the City. I like Alec Forbes tomorrow and I think he could have a winner or two!
Race 5: I like Eye of the World here and I think he will be hard to beat. He is one of only two 2-time winners in the field and I think he could be good enough here. Back up with Iceaglegacy and Spitfire Run.
Race 6: I think the PE boys will win this race. I don't fancy Asian Emperor at all. My vote goes with Bravo and The Plunderer. I think he needed his last start and got his tongue over the bit. Expect a MUCH better showing tomorrow!
Race 7: This is tough. On sentiment I like DJ Detzky and I hope he runs well. I think they all have to beat We Three here. She was super impressive in her maiden as well as her next outing in a NP. Feet of Fire and AllAblaze must also come into the reconing. For me....We Three!
Race 8: Another tough race. I'm only going to tip 1 horse here for an each way bet. French Kiss for me is excellent value at about 10/1.
Race 9: If it was not for the draw I think Chiquitita would have been my standout bet of the day. She is also a little short in the betting at 5/1, but I think she should be very competative here. Her form in stronger handicaps in GP coupled with her good last run in a feature when she was slowly away and ran on strongly should be good enough to at least place here!
That was a mouthful, but I felt like typing anyway!!
Happy punting!

Im glad to say i cleaned house [up on the highveld]...DJ Detzky will have to settle for the 2nd box... blinkers will suit...Detzky's Darling will take the honours...Muzi will hopefully do what Kennedy obviously can't do...READ THE COMPUTAFORM...The filly needs to be switched off until the 350m mark [hopefully 5lenghts off] and then run on...that's how she won and beat the colts from a 16 draw and who did she beat...ALL ABLAZE...Hullohhhhhh...any jocks out there that can decypher the computaform...if so then ride as your asked... So i was robbed of a black type placing in the fillies feature last run...My sentiment will be with Detzky's Darling...DJ needs to prove himself.otherwise he might just have his balls in a jar soon...

Rad,
Thanks for your input. I hope they both do you proud. In my picks at the top I have gone with another filly, We three to win. I hope DJ runs well though.
You deserve some black type with that filly!

We have 4 runners as follows.....
Race 4 Debonair Man Will be a big runner and is a good price at 5/1
Race 5 Eye of the World On advice from Brandon we have had a good bet. Fransie is our 1st pick for jockey but he kindly gave the ride to Brandon, who is living here and doing the work.
Race 6 Bob 'n Weave Has improved lengths and should fight out the finish.
Race 7 Lector Working well but we have our doubts that he will stay the mile. Hoping for a place.
Win & Place yankee for the day Debonair Man, Eye of the World, Bob 'n Weave & Main Miracle .

RXP
HAROLD STERLEY: THE Eastern Cape and Western Cape are set to do battle at Fairview on Friday when some useful three-year-old geldings and a filly will do battle in the East Cape Guineas (Listed) over 1600m.
The locals send out All Ablaze, DJ Detzky and Lector while Cape Town is represented by Feet Of Fire and We Three.
Feet Of Fire has decent form and heads the list of possible winners. He is a two-time-winner who won his latest outing at the expense of Kambrook over this journey. His two previous runs were in the big league and he managed to finish a good third behind Irish Flame in the Politician Stakes. He then might have found 2000m too far against the brilliant Bravura.
Form of that calibre is good enough to have the beating of this field.
All Ablaze won his last two starts over 1400m and has yet to win over this trip. He was much too good for DJ Detzky in their last two encounters, but DJ Detzky might be the better horse over the 1600m trip and could reverse the form.
Lector has raced in the shadow of DJ Detzky and All Ablaze in recent outings and at level weights has it all to do. He is consistent, always tries his best and can earn a stake cheque.
Another dangerous runner is the filly We Three. This daughter of Silvano bids for a hat trick after winning a Maiden Plate by five lengths over 2000m and following up with an easy win over 1600m when she accounted for Naledi at Durbanville.
She is clearly packed with ability and racing in the Eastern Cape for the first time, warrants respect.
