Uk racing Wednesday

Great looking days racing today from the UK with 4 meetings, over the jumps at Cheltenham(pass) and on the flat at Beverley,Kempton and Newmarket.

The flat season really beigns today lol with the first meeting at Newmarket ,they host 2 listed races(the free handicap and the Fielden) and the GP3 Nell Gwyn over 1400m for fillies Henry Cecil has fired out a couple of early winners this season and runs Principal Role and any money would be significant, although nothing has come from her maiden victory ,yet! It might pay to follow Srda who has notched up a couple of minor victories on the all weather over the winter and with fitness assured could run a place at a big price..

e/w double and singles for me today Whipma whopma gate
R2 @ Beverley and Srda
at Newmarket..

Newmarket : Timepiece is the fav for the Oaks so worth following
Bev: Hanagan the man to follow with Laylas Dancer and Sir Pitt, could also win more?
Cheltenham: Just Amazing should win the last.

Read of a massive robber involving one of the top trainers at his house over weekend.
Anyone knows if that has affected the trainers performance wrt winners?

It was Howard Johnson

Johnson armed robbery investigation stepped up

THE man leading the police investigation into the armed robbery at trainer Howard Johnson's farm on Sunday night is hoping the horrific nature of the crime will encourage somebody with underworld connections to give up the names of those responsible.

Detective Inspector Simon Orton is also keen to trace the occupants of a car seen in the area on the evening of the raid.

The vehicle was dark grey or green in colour, and small, possibly an old-style Ford Fiesta or similar-sized hatchback. It had been reversed into a field near the disused Dun Cow pub.

Orton said: "We need the occupants to come forward so that, if the car was not involved in the robbery, we can eliminate it from our inquiries."

He went on: "This was a really shocking and violent incident which left the victims in absolute fear for their lives. Even in the criminal world there exists a code of conduct and for some this could be the sort of incident which has simply gone too far.

"I realise those who are often on the wrong side of the law would hesitate to contact the police directly, but there is nothing to stop them calling Crimestoppers with any knowledge they have. Any information which comes in, whatever its source, will be assessed and acted upon."

Let me ask a question to Hibs and all the UK boffs.
with the new season starting especially at Headquarters today there are some good horses running with very solid form, but most of them have had long layoffs. Do you go with horses that have run quite recently to beat the horses that have better class form but no recent runs or will class prevail???

Also what are the early season patterns like normally? Any specific trainers that always fires at the beginning of the year? I know Bin Suroor takes a while to warm up normally and his horses go out needing a run. What about the other trainers?

Thanks for any input you could deliver!

Hanagan and Fahy combo are flying at the moment as as Hannons 2 year olds. J Gosdons horses are also dong well. Nicholls over the 5 and 6 furlong distances and M Hill is also a good starter to the season. Clive Britains horses are also doing ok at the moment.

Look out for the horses that have run on the all weather during the winter especially those who have run at Southwell as they tend to run well in soft conditions on the turf.

I am ot touching Newmarket today as there are some real difficult races. Beverley is more my cup of tea.

imo Tommy best just to watch and take notes, give them a couple of runs, you might miss the odd bargain but probably be better in the long run.

just my thoughts

Hannons 2 year olds has won 5 from 5 with the stable mate running 5th ;)

I had small nibbles on both winners at Newmarket. Waters get decidedly murky now.......
