Scotia on the weekend

Good morning and hope you are all well and backing the winners?

Had a bit of an eventful week and our wee lad graduated at Pretoria University, must say very proud parents and a good day had by all.

Its a long sit with 450? graduates going one by one plus a few opening speeches and a couple of observations.
A big difference between a black graduates family and the white families in the audience. Example: we call Happy Malema and all you hear are family screams , waving of arms and a quick celebration dance, then its Johannes Terre Blanche and just a good traditional hand clap, the Scotts were somewhere in between, but us white punters must lighten up and enjoy the happy moments in life a bit more.
The classic was a speech where one of the professors was receiving an award for a thesis he had carried out, was not really listening to the detail, but gather he had done a 3 year paper to confirm that service delivery was not up to scratch due to lack of productivity and poor efficiencies! I cant wait to get a copy must be a fascinating read.

Proud Dad

As far as punting, we have a great meeting at Turffontien on Sat the 24th of April, yes the weekend Mrs S has chosen to take us up the Vaal river, I wonder if she will notice that Captain Scott has jumped ship?
Pierre Jordan going for the SASCOC triple crown by winning the Derby and would lift the R2 Million bonus and in addition the Computerform Sprint will see the return of JJ the Jet Plane, Mythical Flight, Private Jet and Warm White Night pity about Val De Ra but no complaints in what should be a cracker.
Any betting? calling all bookies please price up for this special Champions Day with plenty other activities, so if you are not on the Vaal river be sure to go racing.
We will be having a Champions Day competition so watch this space.........

Vaal river or Champions Day?

The UK flat season is with us, but before we start well done to A.P. McCoy winning the Grand National. With Denman missing the Scottish National, Chief Dan George is 8/1 fav for this Sat.
Can St Nicholas Abbey follow in the hoof prints of Sea the Stars? He is still 22/10 fav for the 2,000 Gns and 2/1 for the Derby, no female stars have emerged yet with Special Duty still topping the boards as a weak 4/1 fav for the 1,000 gns and Timepiece a weaker 10/1 fav for the Oaks, look forward to some great racing.
Don't forget our fallen hero Kauto Star still 2/1 for the King George on boxing day.

Zenyatta 16 from 16

In the States Zenyatta keeps winning 16 from 16 goes for number 17 on June the 12th.......Check the forum
The Kentucky Derby is on the 1st of May and who can oppose the new star? Eskendereya 2/1 could be a gift.

On the rugby front the Bulls have gone fav at 2/1 for the Super 14 with the Crusaders 5/2, Brumbies and Stormers 8/1 and the Waratahs 10/1

The soccer where it looks like Chelsea have just about wrapped things up 1/10 for the League, Utd 7/1 and the Gunners well in double figures. Plus the Cup Chelsea also 1/3.

American Idols much the same with Crystal still the one to beat with Lee giving some hope for the guys.

1/5 to the Tories to win more seats

Don't like to discuss Politics, Africa can do that to a man. UK election where the Tories (Conservatives) 1/5 and Labour 11/2.
Well apart from our current political situation and our youth leader, plenty emails and sms hard to say if they are frightening or funny, plenty negative inputs, however I am staying positive and look forward to a great World Cup and would like to see Messi/Argentina live.

I have found a good book for the boat trip which I will be reading during the Computerform Sprint "How to dispose of the wife in water without a trace" I might speed read it on the Friday and see you at the races.

Just remembered was due an upgrade on the phone and the kids said get an "i phone" its magic,(you are never alone with an i phone) plus works everywhere, even on water.

One of the burning questions on the Forum is "if the World is going to end on a certain day and you take a bet"? If you are correct, how do you get settled from your bookie?

I have to again submit my treble to Hony .... to try and beat "Joffers my boy" so much to choose from, will post on Friday.

The box will be full this weekend with a group of young professionals as a step up from the students and will be trying to get them interested in owning horses in between the drinking and punting.

Good punting!

Congrats on the young one getting his degree! You must be a proud parent!

Perhaps if you meander down some streams and take a few "tributories" then maybe you can land that house boat "skiff" of yours somewhere near the turffontein area and still catch the Champions Day action? You are the captain after all

Whether Conservative, Liberal or Labour ,

I think you'll get a kick out of this!

A little boy goes to his
dad and asks, 'What is Politics?'

Dad says, 'Well son, let
me try to explain it this way:

I am the head of the
family, so call me The Prime Minister.

Your mother is the
administrator of the money, so we call her the Government.

We are here to take care
of your needs, so we will call you the People.

 The nanny, we will
consider her the Working Class.

And your baby brother,
we will call him the Future.

Now think about that and
see if it makes sense.'

So the little boy goes
off to bed thinking about what Dad has said.

Later that night, he
hears his baby brother crying, so he gets up to check on him.

He finds that the baby
has severely soiled his nappy.

So the little boy goes
to his parent's room and finds his mother asleep.Â

Not wanting to wake her,
he goes to the nanny's room. Finding the door locked, he peeks
in the keyhole and see's his father in bed with the nanny.

He gives up and goes back to bed.

The next morning, the
little boy say's to his father, 'Dad, I think I understand the
concept of politics now. '

The father says, 'Good,
son, tell me in your own words what you think politics is all
about.'

The little boy replies,
'The prime Minister is screwing the Working Class while the
Government is sound asleep. The People are being ignored and
the Future is in deep chit!

"You are the captain after all"

yes Tommy, but not the boss

sometimes Mrs S just screams and shouts at me, but I have the balls to just ignore her and carry on doing the dishes
