You are all missing the point.
Television is all about emotion.
The Big Race goes out on national TV.
How much of an opportunity does racing need?
They should pay Julie extra to present the Derby!
It is stupid, stupid, stupid.

There must be administrators in racing and the media who are just gob-smacked by the sheer ineptitude of this decision.

It must rank as one of the worst they have laid on us in a long while. And it covers a multitude of sins: from plain stupid...through just completely unfair..to they've just missed a spectacular opportunity to possibly have had one of the greatest horseracing tv moments in a decade.

Leaves one deflated.

please help me out here - I remember Nico, G Hawkins, Clyde calling races where they have OWNED horses in the race (or family members have runners) They have not been asked to step down for that race - I'm not sure about Darryl(I'm not picking on you my mate) who owns a share in freeracer syndicate horses - did that rule apply to him in the RTR race? I do not know Julie and the only conversation I've ever had with her was a brief interview when I was fortunate to have a winner years ago. What about Grant Knowles and the Klavervlei horses he mentions(Captain Al etc) - maybe I'm blind but this sounds crazy if true - It seems like the heavens have opened up in sympathy with Julie and the day might just be a wash out - As if Racing needed another stupid decision at this Junction

Guys this one incident is not the main thing..plse the many many many problems have been well described on all racing sites..there are much bigger problems in racing than this..this is just a symptom of a much larger problem.

As regards Tellytrack why do we not get updates on its leader Nico..the poor guy is sitting without any kidneys waiting for a transplant donor to come his way..

And it demonstrates how spineless they all are. This decision could not have been made by 1 person. I wonder how many were consulted and how many said it was a bad idea?

I have asked this before - Is it only about money? Jockeys fall and you are left to wonder for ages if they are in good health- Horses injured during a race and often no updates - I pride myself on having been born with a drop of humanity in my blood but it seems this is not a 'Sport' at all. When you do see Nico Oscar give the guy my best wishes.

The industry is run by clowns. its a joke how they take such action? why does someone not instigate an investigation into how joey and larry turned from concerned owners to getting horses from jooste and being made head of the racing assoc, answering to the man who they had a vote of no confidence! Maybe larry has someone lined up to take her position? :)o

How internal politics can mar a big occassion..... then they suprised why people have no interest in the game. wll played clyde phumulela and co!
