Champions Day Posponed again
15 years 1 month ago
There is rumour abound that the Champions Day Raceday has been postponed to Saturday 1 May. Is there any truth in this.
If it has been, I can guarantee you that it is because the carryover P6 will now be carried over to Saturday in keeping with the rules pertaining to carryover.
Let them not eye-wash us into believing that it was postponed because of jockey arrangements etc. If that is the issue then they should have thought about that on Saturday before postponing to the Tueday.

Postponed to Saturday 01/05. Interesting to see if the carryover P6 will remain for the Kenilworth meeting

Truth is the original date was crap anyway. The back on which racing is built, the poor punters, would not have had two beans to rub together on the original date anyway. Now the operators can fleece them with joy while the poor punters watch, dream big and spend "big", mostly on a farcical pick 6 carryover, from the squalor of the operators totes.
Life is good......for some.

It was postponed again because the course is still too wet. Simple as that. If they could have run it today, they would. If you haven't been in Jhb these past few days you have no idea how miserably wet and cold the place is.

I have not seen so much mud in a very long time. Many parts of the sales ground were almost impossible to walk in.

PHUMELELA MEDIA RELEASE
SUBJECT: Work Riders’ Challenge
DATE: Thursday 29 April 2010
RELEASED BY: Phumelela Gaming and Leisure Limited
Horseracing fans should note that both the standside and inside tracks will be utilised at the Work Riders’ Challenge race meeting at Turffontein this Sunday 2 May.
Races 1 (1160m), 4 (1160m) and 8 (1100m) will be run down the standside straight course, while the remainder of the card will be round the turn on the inside circuit.
The meeting was originally scheduled in its entirety for the standside track this Saturday, but had to be postponed to the next day when Champions Day was moved to Saturday.
To avoid undue wear on the standside track, the work riders’ meeting was switched to the inside track with the exception of the straight races carded, thus allowing work riders not qualified to ride in races round the turn to participate.
