On this day in 1780 the first Derby was run and the name of the race was chosen on a toss of a coin between two geezers The Earl of Derby and Sir Charles Bunbury.
Sir Charles the unlucky tosser won the race though when Diomed won the purse of £1000 and the inaugural Derby title.
The South African,Kentucky,French Bunbury doesn`t flow that well does it?
